The Scottish Football Association took the decision in 2006 to put
the
word Alba (Scottish for Scotland) on the Scottish national football
shirt, but we are still waiting for the Scottish Rugby Union to
follow
suit.
The Scottish Rugby Union currently plays the song Loch Lamond by
Runrig, which contains the line (added by them) ho mo leannan, ho mo
leannan bhòidheach. Considering the enthusiasm which the Murrayfield
crowd was singing it during the six nations, it seems ironic that the
SRU can blare Gaelic out of the national stadiums speakers, and pay
for the right to do so, but not put a simple four letter word on the
national strip!
Cymru/Wales proudly displays its language on its national rugby
shirt,
so why shouldnt Alba/Scotland?

p.s. I predict someone with a foamy mouth will say something like
"gaelic was never spoken in the Borders". This petition is for more
open-minded people...
