Berkeley - 50th Anniversary of 1st Car
The Bedfordshire Steam and Country Fair last weekend was a spectacular
affair - over 200 steam engines to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the
Bedford Steam Engine Preservation Society and a large contingent of
Berkeley cars to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first of marque
coming off the line - there were 28 cars there on Saturday.
The Biggleswade History Society had an exhibition there and we met many
people with local connections - a superb event.
To round-off the celebration of the first car we have a Berkeley lecture
with photographs on 3rd October in Biggleswade - see our web site or
contact:
archivist[at]BiggleswadeHistory[dot]org[dot]uk for details.
We would like to see as many ex-employees as possible that evening ... all
getting on a bit now seeing as production ceased when Berkeley cars and
caravans folded in 1960.
