My first RROD...
It has happened twice on power up, but powering off/on at mains has
fixed it.
I assume its about to die, so I've put a repair request in to MS, as
the 3 years warranty is up on 23/9.
So, a few questions...
- Is it likely to keep RROD-ing , or will MS say its not faulty and
charge me?
- I'm still awaiting an email with a return label. Will I need to
box it up myself, or will I be sent a box?
- What is the turn around time at the moment?
- Should I buy a PS3 slim to kkep me going in the meantime ? ;-)
thanks

Yes it will, chances are they won't even test it.

Try buying a life if you can't cope without a console for a couple of
weeks.

Check what the secondary error code is. Use the guide near the bottom of...
http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/Xbox-360-error-codes.htm
My last RROD was caused by a faulty power brick and there was nothing
wrong with the 360. Proved by swapping the power brick to another
working 360 which promptly went RROD as well.
Some other RROD errors are also simple fixes. However if it's in
warranty then you might as well send it to MS to be replaced/refurbed.
You will be send a box. Turn around is about 8 days I believe. No you
shouldn't buy a PS3.

Thanks.
I guess you missed the smiley on the end of the post. I'll be buying
a PS3 for other reasons.

I sent mine back claiming ring of death and it didn't have one, only one red
light showing and it was repaired and returned no problem. Let them know
it's intermittant just in case.
