Yeah, "average" gets you "average" scores on major [sarcasm] game reviewers
like edge and fidgit. IGN, Gamespot....those are the little guys.

Edge is actually a major publication in the UK. But 7/10 isn't an
average score from them by any means.

The first game averaged a 70.

The second game went from FPS to 3rd person stealth (a la Metal Gear)
and did a little better but still averaged a 77.

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/psp/killzoneliberation?q=Killzone

But I don't think you can call the 3rd game very very average (yet).

 Quotes from 1st LINK review-

""‬The Helghast,‭ ‬invisible behind their anime-Nazi armour,‭ ‬are
products of the most advanced performance capture and procedural
technology in gaming‭ – ‬and it shows.‭ ""

"""And it gets extraordinary mileage from piling lots of bodies into
simple spaces,‭ ‬letting cutting-edge AI do the rest.‭ ‬A quasi-
tactical shooter,‭ ‬its action rivals any in Stalker or COD4."""

Rivals COD4? that's not indicitive of average,

again I used the very reviews you posted

2nd LINK-

""" But, since the game isn't out yet, there's no way to try
multiplayer in earnest yet. """"

A review that hasn't tried the multiplayer? hmmmmm........ NEXT

And the 3rd LINK referenced this review which gave it a 8.7 , not so
'average' afterall

This is actually a good review of the game...LOL..wow , not so
'average'

Edge is huge magazine in the UK and one of the most respected
publications out there. I trust their reviews more than IGN and GS
combined as do tons of other people. I don't always agree with them
but they are probably the most objective reviewer out there.

Well then you should respect the fact that the OP misrepresented what they
said in the review because their comments indicate far from "average" as far
as Edge is concerned. Didn't read the others.

Actually, it's not. At all. It's bought by less than 30,000 people
every month which even in a relatively small country like the UK isn't
anything like great. The Official playstation mag sells 45,000 and the
Official 360 & Nintendo mags sell about 60,000 (Future's own figures).
It sells roughly the same as the unofficial mags and nobody gives a
damn what they think. I'd also wager a big chunk of the copies Edge
sells are bought just to get the job ads in the back. A lot of the UK
gaming population consider it to be, to use the vernacular, 'right up
it's own arse'. It's just as likely to get reviews laughably wrong as
right and famously had to publicly regrade one game after giving it a
mark 3 short of what said it intended to do as an 'administrative
error'. So it's frankly a relatively poor seller with a vastly
overinflated opinion of it's own importance that has no more relevance
within the UK gaming community than any other mag.

It also doesn't have bylines on reviews, they're all done by 'Edge
staff'. Make of that what you will.

Yes, but not necessarily any good. The Killzone 2 review for example,
regardless of the score, is a triumph of style over substance.

What planet you on???

Every web site who compaired both the pre-rendered CGI trailer and the game
now, all said it now totally blows it away. Plus none of the CGI is pre
rendered now, its all rendered in real time.

On another note, why you saying "Killzone 2 is pretty good for a PS3 game"?
What I've seen and played of it, nothing on the 360 comes even close.

I know quite a few die hard Xbox fans, buying a PS3 just for this game
alone.

I could say that about plenty of games, Gears 1 & 2 spring to mind, they
have got to be the most over hyped, boring and linear games I have ever
played. To tell the truth I still haven't finish Gears 2 yet, I've played
it for around 2 hours and never went back to it. Is the multiplayer still
broken on it?

Where KZ2 shines is the Multiplayer, single player doesn't interest much
these days. I haven't even played single player campaigns on COD4 and COD
WaW yet.

uhh, i think it does. I was one of those people laughing my ass off at
Blig's attempts to ensure the universe that the CG trailer was exactly
like the game would be... but unfortunately he's right. The demo looks
bloody amazing, it plays pretty well but it's nothing revolutionary. I
will buy it but it seems like a pretty run of the mill FPS.

There's great graphics (which K-2 has) and then there's the gameplay.
From the demo (I've played through 6 times now), the gameplay is your
generic fps. The default control scheme is TERRIBLE, but you can
choose a more confortable layout (I chose 'alternate 2', similar to
Resistance 2 layout). The weapons (available in the demo) are pretty
lacklustre. Though I will be picking it up on launch day, I must say
that the demo is pretty disappointing and does not sell the game at
all. Hopefully Sony/Guerilla haven't dropped the ball (again)...I've
got my fingers crossed...

COD4 campaign is the best of the list you posted , by far. You should
really try it on Veteran. Worth every minute and watch the entire
