OK, so I managed to get hold of a silver slimline PS2 (SCPH-70003).  I
know I'm about 4 years behind, but I thought it would look good next to
the Wii (ducks for cover!!), and the best games out there are only a
couple of pounds on eBay and are still better than most of the stuff on
the Wii.

I have a couple of questions though.

1)  This PS2 has a sensor for the remote control.  If I buy one of the
nicer-looking third-party remote controls (which come with a plug-in
sensor), will the remote control work with the in-built sensor?

2)  How do I go about setting up my Vista laptop so my PS2 can connect 
online via a cat5e cable?  My wireless router is in another room, so 
there's no chance of it connecting directly via RJ45
