Graphical problems with Uncharted
I've just bought a PS3 and the first game I've tried it with is
Uncharted. Now, I don't know if it's my setup but it looks horrible.

I've got a 720p LCD and connect the PS3 to it via HDMI with optical
audio. The PS3 is set to work on 1080i, 720p, or 576p modes. The XMB
defaults to 1080i and Uncharted switches to 720p when it loads.
Disabling 720p support just makes Uncharted run in 576p.

The game has horizontal lines which are static relative to the screen.
It's only on grey/brown textures, which means most of the jungle, the
U-Boat, Drake's hair, etc. It looks hideous when things move.

I've tried several demos including RFoM and GTHD and they don't do this
- only Uncharted. I've also tried a Blu-Ray disc and that doesn't do it
either.

I've tried with the console set to 1080i (although Uncharted drops to
720p anyway), 720p, 576i. I've tried with the 'colour cross
whatever-it-is support' turned on and off. I've tried with RGB output
set to 'full' and 'limited'. I've tried setting ultra-white on and off.
  Nothing helps.

The console is running firmware 2.10 - the first thing I did was
upgrade, so I don't know if the default firmware would have done the
same thing.

None of the screenshots I've seen show the horizontal lines, but it
can't be my TV because it's *just* Uncharted that does it. Equally it
can't be a problem with Uncharted because everyone is going on about how
good the graphics are.

I'm completely flummoxed. I've even reset the console to factory
defaults and tried again - same problem.

Help?

That's strange. There are a couple of HDMI settings you can change on
the PS3; can't remember them off the top of my head. Have a fiddle
and see what happens.

I have Uncharted and have not noticed it behave any different to other
games.

I've not noticed any oddities either. The only game I have some
strange issues with is the Orange Box, sometimes I get a bright
strip along the bottom and right edges of the screen (seems to be
replicating one vertical and one horizontal line from the middle for
some reason).
