I've no idea where to get the official version, but I believe there's an
exploit that lets you use the unofficial hacked version (which has better
compatability) on a non-chipped machine.

Is that the independence exploit?

hmm, is it easy to use/install, I have no idea, I was just looking at
HD Loader, I cleaned the disc up, but does the disc nomally make a
funny high pitch whining sound when booting it up in PS2 (is it normal
sound?) if so, I got the disc doctored at game and looks pretty clean
now to when I got it but it makes a high pitch whiny sound when
booting the disc up in PS2, is that normal? Or should it be quiet? My
normal PS2 discs sound quiet booting up.....

cheers
