GBA SP or GB Micro?
My SP is not holding it's charge for very long so I'm going to replace it.

Question is what do I replace it with? Another SP or a micro.

I mainly use my SP outside as I find the screen is perfect in sunlight with
the light off, I dislike using my DSL outside as I can't easily see the
screen even on the brightest setting.

I have never had a Micro before so is the screen more like the SP or DS?
This will obviously be the deciding factor so any advice appreciated.

TIA

If you're happy with the SP, the easiest option would be to just get a
replacement battery.

Now there's an idea, didn't think of that!

Mine is rather scratched though so I would prefer a nice shiny new one,
however I've been searching the web for SP / Micro & so far not found
anywhere that are still selling them!

Are replacement batteries easy to come find?

They were 50p each in Game's bargain bin last time I was in there.

Does the Micro have the SP's annoying buzz through the earphones? If not
I'd go for the Micro just to get rid of that. But if the Micro is
equally bad I'd go for the new brighter SP. Or if you never use
earphones go for the SP. The clamshell design is excellent :-)

No, but then neither do either of my SPs.

Thing is though, your SP screen is still likely to be perfect isn't it?
So external scratching I wouldn't bother about, it'll only happen
again - and with the micro the screen itself is also more likely to get
scratched. Don't know if it's of any use to you, but an SP with a
brighter screen was released in the US, absolutely superb screen but
more similar to DS so I'm not sure if that'd be suitable for your uses
anyway.

They were, I'd just try a quick google.

Yes screen is still perfect but yesterday I went to a local store that had a
second hand Micro & it felt really neat in my hands. I didn't buy it cause
it was more scratched than my SP but it really did feel nice to hold & it
was very light.

I think I'm trying to convince myself I really do need a Micro however it
would be cheaper to just get myself a replacement battery!

Micro for me all the way - I gave my SP to my father in law when the
DS game out, and a few months later bought myself a micro and would
never go back.

the screen is superb, at it's highest setting it's very bright and
viewable
the battery life is awesome, I'm not sure how often I actually charge
it but it's hardly ever, it seems to run forever!
excellent build quality and the size is perfect for throwing in your
pocket,

If you go for a second hand one (which I guess is your only choice
now), try and get one with the original 'velvet' carry bag which will
keep it in good order in bags, pockets etc.

Of all the consoles I have, I have a soft spot for my micro and
generally have it in my pockets/bag - truly portable gaming.

Tesco Extra in Abingdon had loads of new GB Micros on sale a couple of
weeks ago. I was surprised to see them, can't remember the price, they
had a variety of colours.

Can't you just replace the battery?

I ended up getting a Micro from eBay, seller states it's in mint condition
with no markings or scratches & it does have the original 'velvet' bag.

Should hopefully arrive tomorrow if they sent it first class. From the
picture it didn't look like it had any scratches but I'll guess I'll find
out when it arrives.

I love my Micro. I was lucky enough to snag a brand-new one from
DVD.co.uk for £17.99 when they were getting rid of their stock. It's
been well worth the price.

What can I say it's absolutely fabulous. Glad I managed to convince myself
I needed one!

I can see my collection of GBA games getting more use than my DS ones right
now.

I have a question about chargers though...

I have a USB Power Adapter for iPod made by Sonnos if I can find a USB power
cable for the DS, Micro & PSP can I use this abroad with an adapter to
charge these without any issues.

The sticker on the Power Adapter shows
Input 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz, 0.1A
Output 5.5VDC, 0.5A

This is different to what is shown on the official Nintendo Micro/DS
chargers & I haven't a clue if I would damage the battery.

The amount of chargers we need to take on holiday is just ridiculous! I
could quite easily forget the PSP charger but I don't think my other half &
son would be very happy with me! lol

Almost certainly, yes. The USB-to-Micro cables do exist - I have one.
I got it from Play-Asia.

Thanks

Just had a quick look at Play-Asia it looks like they don't have the Micro
cables any more but I'm sure I can find one elsewhere.
