Modchip for imported games?
Sorry if this has already been asked (I did a quick search of the
newsgroup, but no luck.)

Will a Gamecube modchip let me use imported games on my UK Gamecube
without using Freeloader, or is it just for "backups" and homebrew? I'm
not really interested in piracy or homebrew (so hopefully I won't
trigger a flamewar!), but I find it a bit annoying having to switch
discs to load an imported game.

I've Googled for more information, the description of the chips tends to
say something along the lines of "Supports all regions PAL/USA/JAP"
which implies to me that it will load any game, but it could also mean
it can be fitted to any Gamecube.

Thanks in advance.

A Qoob SX will do what you need pretty cheaply. There are only 6
wires to solder which are very easy to do. just remember to get a
Gamebit to open your Gamecube if you don't have one.

There is new chip called XenoGC, which is even easier to solder, much
cheaper($20) and supports direct booting of imports.
