Playing UK gamecube in the US
I got a new power plug and it works but when we try and play it, it
works only its in black and white. Do i need to get a different kind
of cable to connect it to the TV. We tried that to buy one here but
what we found was exactly the same and had the same problem.
Do we just have to get a hole new game cube to use here?
Thanks

basically, its because the cube is outputting a 50hz PAL signal, and
your TV isn't capable of displaying it correctly.
which cable are you using, out of interest?

You don't, but you'll need a TV that supports PAL video, or a cable that
supports a colour encoding that your TV can accept. If your TV has
component input, you could use that. If it has SCART (unlikely in the US
I think), you could import an RGB SCART cable for it. Unfortunately
S-Video won't work because the UK Gamecube won't support it.
Component is your best bet really, if your TV has it (It's three round
connectors, one red, one blue and one green).
Otherwise, you'll need either a new TV or a new Gamecube. You can get a
"Freeloader" disc which should allow you to play some of your UK games
on a US gamecube.
Also, this group is about to be removed, most discussion has now moved
to uk.games.video.nintendo, where this same thread would be perfectly
valid and welcome still.

I am still kicking NTL on that one. They managed to add one new group
today. Some alt.binarie one but this uk one hasn't been added yet. *roll
eyes* I don't think it will ever be added. Come to think about it, I ain't
sure that they have updated the uk.* groups in ages.
