So, Imagine publishing haven't bought the magazine, issue 41 isn't on the
shelves now, and I didnt't get my subscription copy last week? It's got
Outrun Coast 2 coast for the Xbox on the cover as well, how's that for
ironic given that you made this post?

What are you talking about? Do you not read the posts? There have been
several threads about GamesTM and the Imagine publishing takeover during
the last couple of weeks. There is also a post discussing the new issue
under Imagine and if you had bothered to look on the web you would have
seen the press release announcing the acquisition of several other
Highbury titles as well.

LOL. Man, I don't even buy it (though used to) and even *I* know of the
takeover/re-publishing of Games TM. I guess you feel fairly silly now, huh?

Word from the inside is that GamesTM is going to be rebranded soon, new look
et al. Imagine are going to push it as the main multiformat mag, alongside
their main retro mag, RG.

It'll have to be bloody good to succeed long-term. 'Arcade' magazine (Future
Publishing) of the late nineties was as good a multi-format mag as you could
get - that went tits up......despite a snazzy look and glossy feel.
Anyway, I've decided I will start to buy GamesTM again, in whatever guise. I
miss 'paper' mags terribly...and I also wish to support this waning
industry - as it is so apparent now that it is *really* struggling. I
personally know people in this business, and times are indeed hard for them.

you can see why though, when you can get all the information they
produce weeks in advance on the internet.
its a tough area to be a journalist in, and this is evidenced by the
way a lot of games mag staff move on to work on games websites.

I think a lot of it is to do with the prices. £4 is expensive IMO for
information that can be had for free. But if a magazine was well
written, entertaining (which some mags are) AND cheap enough (£2.50)
then I'd buy more.
To contradict myself, when I do buy a mag (rarely do) I feel as though
there is a lot of content so I suppose they are reasonable value for
money. But that £4-5 price on the cover puts me off everytime I look at
a mag, so no doubt it puts a lot of others off as well.

Re: ITS FINAL !!!!!! RIP GAMES TM MAGZAZINE !!! 40 ISSUES OLD :-(
I think GamesTM has the best of the subscription offers at the moment with
each issue costing £2 delivered. I do subs every three months so I will oly
lose £6 at the most if they pull the plug on it.
If it was full price though I doubt that I would buy it.

Try taking a games website to the shit-house though.....unless you have a
wi-fi laptop, it's hard - and doesn't quite get the bowel moving like a good
paper read.....or the first drag of a cigarette, or sip of coffee. ;)
That's why I miss paper mags. :)
Seriously though, I know what you mean - the internet was what enabled me to
stop buying them. The price too - 10 mags, or less, is, like... a new game.
But I *do* miss them terribly.....and so does my constitution (I have every
issue of Arcade in my bathroom). ;)
