Fun Magic Tournament - This Thurday Eve - 18th of September - East
London
The aim of these events is to get together like minded people who all
share the similar passions / or should I say once did for some of us!
The Pembury Tavern is a great venue/PUB with loads of great Ales and
very easy to get to. Its the opportunity to meet fun people who used
to do role playing, wargames and all the other things attached to it,
like Magic!. So if you fancy a couple of pints and meet peers who
speak the same language, and don't look at you with big eyes thinking
you are a geek/freak, its a monthly event to put in your diary!
1st Pembury Tavern Event!
Magic: The Gathering Tournament 18th of September
Registration: from 6.30pm
Tournament start: 7pm
Entry fee: £8.50
Status: Gateway League
Casus Belli monthly ladder
The Gateway League: Offers new/old Magic players a casual playing
environment where they can encounter other players. The Gateway league
is the first step a player takes after having played the game at home.
This is mostly because of the low entry fee and less competitive
character of the league. The Gateway reward scheme rewards
participation, and allows non finalist players to obtain a DCI foil
card with only a few victories in one tournament!
Tournament Format: Constructed Legacy
Legacy means:
Legal Card Sets: Decks can be composed of cards from any edition or
expansion of Magic which use the normal card back.Unglued cards with a
silver border are disallowed.New card sets become effective on the day
of their introduction.
Other Restrictions
Minimum of 60 cards in a deck. There is no maximum size.
Optional 'sideboard'. If you have one, it must be exactly 15 cards.
No more than 4 of any card which is not a basic land can be in the
combination of deck and sideboard. Cards with different art or in
different languages or from different prints but which are the same
card are considered the same.
Group stage: Approx 2.5hrs
2 or 4 Groups. 1 match Vs. Each player of group
1 match = I game, timed**
First two of each group go through to finals stage.
Non Finalists:
1 match is played for ranking position.
Match play is determined by taking equivalently ranked player from
other group
Match format: Best out of 3, unlimited time*
Finals stage:
1 Match = Best out of 3 games, Straight knock out, Timed**
Notes:
* All tournament matches are stopped to watch the final and runners up
match at approx 10pm.
** Time dependant on group size
Minimum amount of games per tournament is 4 1
Tournament Ranking:
All tournament ranking is determined by match play.
Monthly rankings are cumulated in The Casus Belli Pembury Tavern
Gateway League Ladder.
Monthly tournament points are proportional to the number of
participants.
League ladder prizes and sponsorship to come...
Prizes:
1st : 4 sets of 4 DCI Gateway foil cards (16 cards)
2nd : 2 sets of 4 DCI Gateway foil cards (8 cards)
3rd : 1 sets of 4 Cards DCI Gateway foil cards (4 cards)
4th & beyond: Gateway Reward Card *

Do you have more detail for your next event? Or a web site?
