Aims, objectives, outcomes
I have been doing some reading this vacation on lesson planning, and I
think I am probably more confused than I was when I started. Naturally,
different models of education will throw up different models for lesson
planning, so that's not unexpected.

What I do find harder to deal with is the way that terms like "aim",
"objective" and "outcome" are used quite differently in different
models, and possibly also just by different authors.

So sometimes, a "learning outcome" will describe the things a pupil will
*do* (in order to learn), and sometimes it will describe things a pupil
should *learn*. Sometimes, one author will use "objective" in the same
way another uses "outcome". And so on.

Is there some favoured way of describing all these various elements of a
lesson plan unambiguously, so that even if one educational school calls
them one thing and another something else, their purpose can be properly
understood by everyone?

Thanks,

Daniele
