Firefox 2
How do I get back to Firefox 2?
Firefox 3 tried to install yesterday and won't work. It says there are
files missing and a fatal error.

I've tried repairing Firefox 2, but it will only let me uninstall so I
haven't.

I've got IE as well, but was making an effort to use Firefox and it
was working fine.

Firefox 3 muttered to me about missing files, too, and wouldn't
install the first time I tried. I did a reboot and then it installed
OK. I did have a few nasty moments! Good luck with sorting it out,
whichever way you jump.

My pooter tries to load version 3 every time I click on the Mozzarella
icon on the desktop and says there are missing files.
That icon used to load version 2.

Do I have to uninstall version 2 then reinstall it?

The icon has been redirected to the version 3 folder. You could try
redirecting the icon so that it points to the right version of the
program, but it's probably easier to delete the shortcut and create
another one. (in your 'programs' list, find the right version, right
click it, and select 'create shortcut', then drag that new shortcut onto
the desktop. If none of this makes sense, by all means try it the long
way round and uninstall and reinstall version 2)

That made sense so I tried it.

Only the uninstall option is not greyed out, but it won't let me do
that either.

Redirecting the shortcut, then uninstalling if it didn't work.

Sorted now, between you, Greebs and someone who pointed me at
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

I then got a message asking if I wanted to upgrade to version 3! I
clicked never.
Version 2 is supported until Dec. this year.

The English dictionary they recommended wouldn't install though.

I have just updated 'my other' machine (laptop with Vista) to Version 3. It
removed my English dictionary, though: not compatible!!)

The special AI present in all Beta versions means that it is
deliberately waitin for the ideal (i.e. most inconvenient) moment.

Ah. OK.
I hope it's serious enough to stop me going back to school.
