Done A Sheeel
I de-cluttered, loaded my car up and took a trip to the dump. There was
a very helpful attendant there (not!)
He stood by my boot telling me where to put things (but not actually
helping, himself). So his (paraphrased and cut) monologue (the brackets
are my own explanations) went something like, "The base of that ironing
board (metal legs) goes in 'metals'. And you need to put that (old
knackered radio) into 'small electricals'. Then those sheets (broken
down cardboard boxes) go into 'cardboard'..."
AAaaaaaaaaAAAARRRRGGGHHHHHHH!

But he's only a man.

Satisfying isn't it?
A lot of stuff still gets wasted though eg lever arch files cos
they're metal and card. They can't cope with mixed materials.
We have a container for rigid plastics, asbestos!, batteries etc. etc.
The clothing banks were overflowing onto the ground this week. I can't
believe any of that is still wearable even if it could have been.

Most recycled fabric is shredded and reused in another life. It tends to
be only the specialist charit bins that try to sift out wearable
clothes, I think.

So I could have put this week's torn T-shirt in.
I've seen a bloke in a big lorry collecting from those bins and he
seems to be having a quick look and then squashing it into cubes.
