Gym
Does anyone here belong to a gym and do you go and is it worth it?

There is one near where I shop, so I could combine a shopping trip
with a gym trip after school or at other times.

It's quite expensive though.

I belong to one and did when I was in England, but found that unless
it was VERY close to work I wouldn't go. When I joined one that was
almost on the way home from school (both there and here), I started
going more regularly. In England, I went about 4-5 times a week. It
helped that it had fabulous, private shower stalls with water
pressure. The one in England was also expensive, but I felt it was
worth it for the benefits (at the time, they provided towels and
suchlike so I didn't have a haul a lot of stuff).

The one I go to now is also on the way home from school and I go about
6 days a week, again, combining with other errands/activities. Have
lost 25 pounds and 3 dress sizes since October.

A gym's only worth it if you do use it, though.

I have a membership card which I pay for monthly which allows me use of
all the gym and swimming pool facilities in the county as often as I
like. I never both with the gym but I go swimming on average 4 times a
week so it saves me money.

The swimming pool near here has a gym attached.
I might see if that's cheaper.

I seem recall that when I used the county's gym/pool, it was almost as
expensive as the private one I eventually ended up with. That was a
few years ago, of course.

Fat chance, methinks, but you have to explore the possibilities. I've
just discovered that our local pool is extending its early morning
session times and will be opening at 6.30 - good news for me as I'll be
able to go before school now. I'd much prefer to do that than go late in
the evenings (which is the only other time you don't have to risk
bumping into little cherubs).

I've already been positively virtuous today. At 5.15am I went for a bike
ride. Came back at 6.30 then went to the pool by 7.30am and did 35
lengths or so.
In the lympic spirit I serpose I'll now complete the other third of the
triathlon and go for a quick sprint up the mountain.

Oh, hang on...

hmmm...

I've had a second thought. The thought is thinking no. :D

So not then! ;)
