At college, it is the last-minute rush to get all the coursework
completed and marked (and sometimes done again and marked again) so
that we can legitimately claim their diplomas (forms to fill in of
course), while fitting in work-experience visits and
end-of-course-review-meetings (yuck!). Every year I think I'm going
to handle this last few weeks of the year better. Every year I don't

I said this week that IEPs are reports - along with test results - and
that we don't have to write anything twice.
I'm hoping I've got away with it.

An IEP is a plan not a report.

It's a report when the review section is filled in.

I'm sort of with Sheeel on this one. A good IEP will provide an
indication of the previous targets and progress made, as well as set out
new targets and procedures for the coming weeks.

Where a child is exempt from following the National Curriculum then I
think it would be reasonable for an IEP to take the place of a report.

However (and this may be Sheeel's downfall) IEPs rarely report on
progress made within the areas of the National Curriculum, so if a child
is following this curriculum, there is a requirement to report on
progress within the NC. In this case, an IEP alone wouldn't cut it.

Perhaps an IEP accompanied by a sheet indicating progress in subjects?
