Screen turned upside down - help
Help!
One of my colleagues little 'darlings' has turned the screen upside down.
How does she turn it back to the correct orientation - and, more
importantly, stop them doing it in the future!! (Windows XP)
I was sure that this has been answered, but I couldn't find it in the
archives - I ran out of patience, I must admit, as I am still on dial-up as
I cannot get Broadband here....

I'm assuming it's probably an Intel chipset PC, probably a Dell?
Right-click on the desktop, choose Graphics Options, Rotate and change back to
Normal (or whatever). To stop it happening again, untick "Allow screen
rotation".
Actual wording depends on model.

A,lternatively, it sounds as if your little darling accidentally leaned
against the ctrl alt and down or up arrow key.
If you do the same, you might find the world returns to normal.

Quite right too... Another stupid windows default. "Let's leave these turned
on, we might generate a few lucrative support calls"
It happened at uni here yesterday too, and the lecturer had to ask the class
how to undo it. I tried right clicking on the desktop but as I didn't have
admin privs I couldn't get to desktop prefs to turn it off.

Thank you - I have passed this on - also the one about using Ctrl-Alt and
the arrow keys (thanks Bev 'n Bev - here and the less-scary place 'next
door')

It depends on the graphics card that you have. It is a hardware
feature and not something that is native to any particular OS. Check
out your documentation for the graphics card there are various
different keys that you can use depending on your exact setup.
Is there am icon for it near the clock, maybe a "nvidia" icon. You can
also turn it off by going to the control panel or right clicking on
the desktop - but both these may be turned off. Obviously someone with
your privileges has actually done it so you just have to find which
keys! Try combinations of ctrl, alt, shift + arrow keys.
Sorry i cant help further - you need to supple more details first!
