FAQ Answers
-----------

A1. This newsgroup is intended for discussion of mathematics and issues
in all aspects of mathematical education.

Q2. Is this group going to be relevant to secondary maths teachers or
is it just for those in colleges and universities?

A2. This group is for all maths educators, especially those at the
     chalk face.

Q3. Im a primary school teacher. My main subject is Art. Can I post
     here?

A3. Yes, you teach maths as well. Were sure youll have a lot to
     contribute to our maths discussions.

Q4. I'm not a member of any maths association but I'm a maths teacher.
     Can I join in?

A4. Welcome! Of course you can.

Q5. I'm still a student teacher. What about me?

A5. You've come to the right place.

Q6. I'm still at school and I'm stuck on my homework.

A6. Sorry, this isn't the right place to ask for help.

Q7. I'm a maths teacher, but I don't teach in the UK.

A7. You are welcome to post here if there's a discussion going on that
interests you so long as it is of interest to UK maths educators.

Q8. Can I post a vacancy for a post in my school here?

A8. No, please post maths vacancies in the usual places. This
newsgroup doesn't welcome such posts. You may find it relevant
     to post in uk.jobs.offered.

Q9. Our Company has an interesting book/product that maths teachers
would be sure to find interesting.

A9. Sorry, no commercial advertising please. Have you considered
uk.adverts.other or uk.adverts computers? Look for a newsgroup
     in the uk.adverts.* hierarchy.

Q10. I know of an event that would be of interest to maths teachers.

A10. Great! Post it and tell us all about it.

Q11. I've got this superb worksheet on my computer. Can I send it as a
     binary?

A11. No, sorry. We don't allow binary postings on this newsgroup.

Q12. I'm a maths teacher but I'm stuck with this maths problem/way of
     presenting an idea.

A12. Post it and see if the group can help. (Make sure you are really a
teacher and this isn't your homework!)

Q13. I've been working at an idea since I attended a maths conference
but it isnt complete yet. Id like to discuss it here.

A13. Yes! We would like to share your thoughts.

Q14. I've got a really good maths problem, but I'm not a maths teacher.

A14. So long as you can present it in a way that makes it understandable
to most of the group, post it here.

Q15. I've got a particularly interesting problem on the proof of
     Fermat's Last Theorem.

A15. Sorry. Specialist higher maths problems are best dealt in other
maths groups such as sci.math or sci.math.num-analysis.

Q16. I'm cross-posting this article to those newsgroups too. You're all
     bound to be interested.

A16. Cross-postings are not welcome. It is unlikely that a post for
more than one other newsgroup will also be of interest here.

Q17. A teacher in your newsgroup has spelt 'parallel' wrongly. I'm going
     to tell him.

A17. No, no spelling or grammar flames please. Respectful posts only -
we all like each other in this group.
