can anyone help me find a really first rate text book for doing year
11/12 (australian system: last two years of maths)

i am a highly motivated adult, working pretty much on my own, having
spent several months last year going through most of the topics senior
high school maths, but fast!
now i need to go back over all this, slowly!, and with lots of
examples, exercises, mini-tests, in order to prepare for entry to
university to do pure maths in 2008

i am enrolled to do a couple of short courses this year: foundation
maths, semester 1
calculus, semester 2, but i want to get the best, latest, most
comprehensive text book and work my way through it, while attending my
other classes

looking for a modern approach to the old-fashioned method of proof, ie
learning from first principles
