app for grabbing youtube sound?
I use the firefox extension to download youtube video, but I was
wondering if there is a free app available to either download just the
sound (probably not possible) or to grab the sound only once the file
has downloaded. Any ideas?
TIA,
David

QuicktimePro can export the sound. I assume that other things that could
play it would have some kind of export.
Failing that, audio hijack would do it.

Just had a look at audio hijack- that records 'live' which is what I'm
already doing with wiretap. I was hoping to have something that could
just rip the audio- sorry if that wasn't clear- and many thanks for the
quick response!

Well, quicktime is the best choice then. That is what I would use, but
it depends if you have pro or not. I do, so that is what I would use.

Yup- I can see that pro would do that. If I used it a lot, I might buy
it, but for now, I'll just stick with wiretap. Thanks for the
suggestions.

Very possible, and discussed recently on LifeHacker:
1. By website:
<http://vidtomp3.com/index.php>
2. Follow LifeHackers instructions thus:
<http://lifehacker.com/375312/record-youtube-music-videos-to-mp3>
The source of this advice is:

I've not personally tried them, but my Dad reported success.
