Error code -54
I've tried to update my MacSOUP 2.6 to 2.8. I downloaded the installer
and replaced the MacSOUP.app in Applications with the new one (putting
the old app into a temp folder), then started as usual by opening the
MacSOUP Settings file.
It awards me an error -54 when opening a file (it doesn't say which
file).
Running the application shows that it's registered to me okay, and it's
all kosher.
Replacing the 2.6 application file in Apps gets everything working
again.
I've tried finding out what error code -54 means, but can't find it.
This is in sys 10.4.11.
Any thoughts?

Forget I spoke. I hadn't properly trashed the earlier version. Now I
have, and it's fine.

Apple ship a command-line tool called "macerror" which will tell you.
In SL it is in your normal path, though if memory serves it was
elsewhere in Tiger.
Anyway, "macerror -54" says "Mac OS error -54 (permErr): permissions
error (on file open)" and you'd have to investigate further to find
which file it was trying to open :-)

Yes, I only discovered macerror the other day, having previously gone to
MacErrors.h whenever one of those pesky codes came up.
