I am just about to upgrade my Sony laptop. My requirements are the 
following: word processing, watch DVDs, downloading music and video files 
(only through Rapidshare and from a legit. opera ng.), and burn them into 
DVD.

So far I've felt rather frustrated with the present system (VAIO VGN-FS 
processor 1.73) when trying to burn a DVD usingNero or other software.

I'd like to get another Sony as it looks and feels right to me, just seen 
the VGNAR71M reduced in price and my questions to you are the following:
Will the processor be fast enough for my need, and will the integrated 
Blue-ray optical drive be difficult to handle, as I am not to experienced 
about this new technology.
Suggestions on alternative models (17") are welcome.
