OS9.2.2 which shipped with the G4 MDD when new
This is a follow-up question to one which appeared on Google. I'm
trying to get my G4 MDD to also to boot up from OS9.2.2 on a second
hard drive. It doesn't at the moment (although it successfully booted
up a G3 when in that Mac) and someone has suggested it might be the
for various reasons the G4 MDD must have the version of OS9.2.2 which
shipped with it when they were sold as new.

So has anyone got the original install discs which they would be
willing to sell me or, perhaps, to make a copy of the particular one
which carries the OS9.2.2 data?

The retail copy won't work in the MDD, I have been down this route
myself. the MDD came out after the retail version and requires extra
files to support such things as the faster ATA/IDE bus. you can boot
9.2.2 retail from a HDD on the secondary IDE bus but it will not see
anything on the faster primary IDE bus.
Also the MDD requires a machine specific .ROM file that post-dates 9.2.2
and only came with the MDD disks.
Ben.

NB if your MDD has the faster FireWire 800 motherboard then don't even
bother trying, only the FireWire 400 version can boot 9.2.2
