Mac netbook for sale
Advent 4211 Atom 1.6GHz Mac Leopard OSX 10.5 netbook

Compact, very usable, very portable.
A great little laptop, this was my main work machine in between MacBook
Pro and the iMac.

This is not for sale, as it has no buy it now option. Please mark your
subject line as: FA (for auction).

Nor is it a Mac, but at least it is in fact a netbook.

Are you seriously suggesting that putting something on an eBay auction
does not mean it's for sale? So when the auction closes, have I sold it
or not?

I am seriously suggesting you change your subject line in future to
reflect an auction rather than an item for sale. It is usually
recognised that if an item is for sale, you are looking for a specific
amount of money for it, not it going to the highest bidder on an auction
site.

This is ridiculous pedantry. An auction is a type of sale, specifically
one where the price is, over a period of time, augmented (this is where
the word comes from).

The item is for sale. Currently, it is for sale for 0.99GBP. That price
may, or may not, be increased, if there is sufficient interest in the
item.

What a load of absolute bollocks. Can I buy this item now? No. So how
can it be for sale?

Because an auction is a type of sale. It's one that takes place over
a period of time, with the price increasing. There is a seller, and a
buyer; there is also an intermediary period where bids are placed in
order to determinte the end price. It's not really very hard to
understand.

If you feel so strongly about this -- and clearly you must, since you
felt the need to use such emotive language -- perhaps you should suggest
that an amendment be made to the charter.

Okay. A point of netiquette, then.

Yes. Make me an offer that I find too attractive to refuse, and I'll
sell it now.

> No. So how can it be for sale?

I have announced my intention to sell it, via auction. If somebody wants
it now and makes a good enough offer, I'll sell it to them and cancel
the auction.

So, that's told you!
