Ebuyer sell 320GB laptop drives for around £35-40. Smaller ones a bit less.
Then buy a 2.5" USB case for £5-10.

just because its  for a laptop doesnt  stop  you from  going the  3 1/2 
inch  route  which  may well be  cheaper ??  does  it?

Don't the 3.5" drives and enclosures tend to need external power (as in, 
not just power over USB) though?  Which makes them somewhat less 
portable as a result.
