Just bought a 3G USB Stick on eBay
Its the Vodafone K3565 and its unlocked, just what I need to use here in
Jersey on the Airtel Vodafone network (different from UK Vodafone). They
charge £ 49 for it over here with £ 10 credit and I paid £ 25 with no
credit but it is unlocked. I currently tether my mobile phone but the
USB Stick will come in handy. I presume you can get them for practically
nothing in the UK?

Thought as much, I could of got the UK vodafone K3565 dongle for £ 26.58
delivered from Amazon with 1GB of data to use next time I am in the UK
but that one is locked to Vodafone UK.

A friend bought one of those for £ 30 from the Vodafone site thinking it
was unlocked and when he got it found out it would not work over here on
Airtel, luckily for him the Airtel shop over here got him an unlock code
so he was able to use it.

I did not fancy having to go through Airtel Jersey to get an unlock code
so looked for a Vodafone one which was already unlocked, in case it
arrives locked I should be able to take it into the Airtel shop for an
unlock code, but I am sure that it will be unlocked as advertised.

Then only downside is that I have forfeited my 1GB SIM to use on the UK
Vodafone next time I am there as the one being sold on eBay is without
the 1GB sim, but it would be practically no use to me anyway and would
prefer to have an already unlocked dongle.

It seems to get a free one over here you need to be on an expensive
monthly contract.

Only of any use to me if they were unlocked which they probably were
not, the 3 dongle selling for £ 5 a while back could be unlocked
apparently as can they all its just a case of getting hold of the right
information/tools for FREE.

Maybe its a bit of work to get the unlocking info maybe not, the
advantage for me in getting the Vodafone dongle is that they use the
same one over here albeit unlocked.

In the worse case scenario that the eBay one ends up being locked I
should be able to get it unlocked by the Airtel shop like my friend
did... but if all goes to plan I've got an unlocked one for £ 25 which
still works out £ 14 cheaper then buying over here.

Not quite as good as free or £ 5 but then I would need to do the
unlocking myself and would probably not have the support of Airtel over
here to fall back on seeing as the dongle was not even a Vodafone one
like they already use over here.

Recieved my Vodafone K3565 USB Broadband dongle today, installed the VMC
software and selected Airtel-Vodafone as network... it connected first time
and seems to be a little faster then when tethering my phone...
