WTD: Dead or alive - WD800 SATA drive
I have a dead Western Digital WD800 80Gb SATA hard drive that's not
recognised by hardware.

Does anyone have one that's had a head crash / bad sectors etc that I
can cannibalise for the drive electronics.

It's a standard 3.5" Form factor.

Ta,

Paul.

I have one here, it's a good working drive (WD800JD-00LSA0) and is only
a spare used for testing purposes so it won't be the end of the world if
it dies in the process.

Where abouts are you? I'm in Bristol and if you're reasonably close we
could try swapping boards to try to get the data off?

Failing that I don't mind having a go if you want to ship the drive (and
another drive or a pile of DVD-Rs to put the copy onto) to me.

Drop me a line at simon . patten @ blueyonder. co. uk (remove spaces) if
interested.

Cheers,
Simon.
