Hi, sorry if this is an old question...

I've just converted to broadband with Virgin Net. Is there any way to 
discover how much of the monthly download quota I've used so far?

Hi John,

Glad to hear that you're up and running. It bothered me and I never did
figure out how except by using the Diagnostics utility supplied with the
Speedtouch 330 software pack. I'm assuming it comes with the PC software
but as I use a Mac can't tell you what or where.  Assuming it's similar
the opening screen shows Bytes Sent and Received since startup.

I've no idea John but when I first went on to broadband I had a phonecall
from Virgin to say my uploads were too much. I'm sure there must be a way to
find out about your downloads though. If you do find out let me

Sadly Dr SpeedTouch only seems to tell you the figures for the current 
session. If like me you forget to make a note before disconnecting then 
the information seems to be lost. I was rather hoping to find a 
cumulative figure on Virgin's site (in account info?) but no joy so far. 
Frustrating, because they must have the information for their own use.

Jean - thanks also - yes I'll post here if I discover anything. I'm 
surprised Virgin questioned the amount of uploads, I don't think I've 
seen anything specific about there being a limit for uploads apart from 
the vague "fair usage" clause.

That's very true. I used to check it each evening and after a while
realised that I was not normally coming near the limit. It would be
sensible for Virgin to let you see the info they obviously have. Since
switching to a modem/router thingy I don't  have a clue of course.

BTW Mac users don't have Dr SpeedTouch, just a utility called
Diagnostics which I think is somewhat less useful.

Not from their PoV.  If you know you're about to run into your limit, they
can't charge you.  They *want* you to overrun.

No, I'm probably to innocent and you're right on the money!  Actually do
Virgin charge, thought they gave a warning and if you persist switch
you, say from Plan 3 to Plan 2, which would net them even more money.

Couldn't say;  I left Virgin waaay before I got BB.  Their dial-up
after-sales service was awful at the time.
