Yes I saw that. Virgin actually admitted that the service worst affected by
'throttling' at peaks times is the 2Mbit service I'm on, and don't I know it
...Grrrr.

Arrr. I am on 2Mb and doubted if I ever hit the... is it 3 Gig? trigger
point, but how is one to tell? They no doubt count all downloads including
usenet, and the current trend in some of the groups is to post humungous
photos to show off their latest cameras. Does one need a two meg pic of a
new baby? It's a bit startling to scroll down to a photo and see one eye
staring at you.
Once, everyone was conscious of download times, and J-pegged their pictures
to a reasonable size but, alas, not any more.
.
Anyway, VM do suggest a suitable download counter, but you have to pay for
it, and the only freeware one I have seen was confusing in the extreme to
set up.
Any suggestions on this score would be gratefully received.
.
There have been times when I was sure I was being throttled. A download
speed from a UK site which wobbled between 32 and 56K ? It was like being in
a time warp. 8(
I suppose the site could have been busy, but.... One gets suspicious.
