Virgin Broadband Plan One
Virgin Broadband Plan One that I'm on at the moment seems to be overpriced
at £24.99 p/m... seems to me I should change to the £17.99 one "Unlimited
Broadband" and get the same awful service for less p/m...
Up to 8 Mbps?
Unlimited downloads
(Acceptable use policy applies)?
Free PC security
Am I missing something obvious here?

The only possible downside I can see Les is that they will probably insist
on locking you into a new 12 month contract. Other than that, I can't see
you'd be any worse off, just saving money. I'm on the £17.99 per month deal
but stayed with the 2Mbit service, since I am some way from the exchange and
on very old BT lines I can't hope to get higher speeds. Like most peoples'
experience, it's fine for most of the day but slows down a lot in the
evenings when everyone is home trying to get on.

Made the move to Broadband Plan Two. Cheaper per month and a free modem /
filters to go up on ebay. We have too much "history" attached to our email
address to change isp so i guess we're in for the long haul, hoping they
sort out more bandwidth for the new rush of poor saps who fell for the VM
hype.
This connection used to really fly! Been on Virgin since 1997 and never had
a problem until recently...
Fingers crossed.

Pity you can't have email addy portability, in the same way that you have
phone number portability. Perhaps it can be done, but would require an Act
of Parliament or summat. :-(

You are aware that you're not required to use the email address supplied
by your ISP, I trust?
For example, my normal email addy has nothing to do with my ISP.
The address used for usenet is linked to my ISP, however. 99% of
messages to that address are SPAM, so just get deleted on the server,
without downloading or reading them..
