Statutory Declaration as Proof of Identity?
I'm getting a lot of grief from work over the immigration asylum and
nationality act [2006], they want to see proof of my id even though
I've worked there over ten years and am British and was born in this
country.
I'm unable to find any passport and believe it may be expired by now
as I haven't been abroad for several years.
I don't have a birth certificate. I believe even if I did that they
are not valid proofs of identity anyway and I have been told it even
states this on them?
My NI details they already have from when I first started working
there. I am unable to find any NI card and believe it takes several
weeks to get a new one. I don't see how this would proof identity
either though?
Drivers License I have been unable to find this and believe the courts
in Scotland may still have it from when I sent it off for a speeding
fine. This also even if I could find it, doesn't proove identity as it
is one of the old style paper ones.
I have to give them documents they're requesting by the end of the
week but can't afford a new passport £72 standard lengthy service £92
expidited would take until the week after. Plus I'm not planning any
holidays abroad as I can't afford.
I have thought about an attestation of identity but obviously I would
need to bright family (mother father sister, brothers), friends and
other associates with me to sign and witness in presence of solicitor
which isn't practical or an option that I can do.
Is it possible to get a Statutory Declaration Confirminig Identity and
how to you do that if you don't have or can't find any of the
documents they are requesting?
Is it just an oath you swear to? If that is not an option would an
Affidavit of Identity be sufficient?
What is my best course of action? How can I give these documents when
I don't have them? The company policy they gave me they said there
would be other documents listed that I could provide as proof instead.
However no other documents are listed in there other than what I have
told them I don't have or have misplaced.
They said I've got to give them the documents this week or I'll get
disciplined and probably suspended without pay!
Would the Statutory Declaration Confirming Identity or Affidavit be
something I swear to under oath, which would be acceptable and prevent
the company I work for from being liable and hassling me further?
I feel like this is really becoming a police state. It's like 1930's
Germany or the Soviet Union.
Can I get a statutory declaration confirming identity or affidavit of
identity from a solicitors (bearing in mind I don't have any of these
documents) and how much would it cost?
Thanks for any help you can offer,
John

Tell them you will provide the documentation when other agencies return them to you

Normally you have to do this within a court , you need to provide proof of identity
such as a letter from your doctor or solicitor bank statements utitlity bills etc ,
my wife had to do this to obtain a new driving licence because se didnt have a
passport and her mother through away her depoll paperwork and the name on her birth
certificate did not match her marraige certificate to me
you can get a birth certificate from your local register office , it will prove your
place of birth , you are not trying to confirm your identity only your nationality

My wife had to swear before a court who she was yet some organisations still will
not accept the documentation as evidence .In the end i issued a statuary demand
against the insurance company threatening to wind them up , strangly enough the
payment which was substantial arrived within seven days
