Compensation case going to court after 3 years
Folks,
Just over 3 years ago I had a fairly serious motorbike accident (I've
learned I fly well, but landing's need some practice!)
After initially trying to blame me, the other guy accepted liability
(given the mass of witness statements in my favour, he had little
choice!). After that of course, my solicitor and I waited a sensible
amount of time for injuries to heal, long term side effects to become
apparent etc, before going in search of compensation from the other
guy's insurers. When the first offer came through it was... ahem,
insulting to say the least, so my solicitor and I rejected it.
However, it wasn't long after rejecting that offer that the 3 yr
anniversary of the accident passed - As I understand things from my
solicitor, after 3 years things have to go through the courts, and so
he has begun court proceedings against the guy's insurers.
Can someone enlighten someone somewhat ignorant to legal processes as
to what is likely to be happening, and how long the whole court
process is likely to take? Last thing I heard was a few weeks ago from
my solicitor that he was issuing the initial papers.
Enlightenment appreciated!
Many thanks
Steve
