One Account mortgage deed
I'm in the process of completing my re-mortgage application, when I spotted
that the mortgage deed stated that I should seek independant advice before
signing it. It seems that the mortgage legal fees which I've paid are to
cover RBS' legal fees not mine - they didn't tell me that when I was
applying for the re-mortgage!!!
Has anyone out there re-mortgaged to the One Account?
If so, did you seek legal advice before signing the mortgage deed or not?
If there are any lawyers, conveyancers or legal executives out there who
have had dealings with clients re-mortgaging with the One Account, is the
deed straight forward or does it indeed need legal scrutinity? Are there any
dodgy clauses?
Kind regards in advance

Are they suggesting that you seek independent 'legal' advice before signing,
or are they suggesting you seek independent 'financial' advice. I would have
thought the latter.
ISTM that RBS are making it clear that applicants are responsible for their
decision to sign.
They are 'recommending' that applicants seek independent advice so that RBS
will be protected against applicants coming back years later and moaning
about having made the wrong decision and trying to make out it's RBS's
fault.

Unlikely. They are probably handling the legal side of the remortgage
themselves. Unlike on a house purchase there is no one advising OP,
so they recommend that he takes his own legal advice.
