Hearing aid
OK folks a bit of a weird one. My grannie is in hospital just now but
her hearing aid is on the fritz (she is convinced it is the battery but
everyone and their cousin has had a look at it and it is NOT the
battery). Her appointment for audiology isn't until next Tuesday and
someone will get murdered if gran has to spend an entire week not
hearing anything) so the plan is to buy an (analogue) aid for her to
wear for the week (maybe longer if that is what audiology suggests).
Does anyone know of a hearing aid shop that would have stuff in stock
for immediate sale? Seem to remember there was a place in Lothian road
(is that still there?). Would prefer centre of Edinburgh but can travel
pretty much anywhere in the central belt of Scotland.

Have you asked the Audiology Dept. in the hospital for advice (some
hospitals provide facilities for hearing aid dispensers on site)?

AIUI the problem with 'immediate sale' is that a mould of the ear (the
part in which the aid is placed) needs to be made before the aid can be
fitted. That's likely to take a couple of days.

We already have the mould and the inter tubing it is only the amplifier
bit that we would be getting. We thought the amplifier part would be a
max of a hundred but seems an amplifier will be in the £500~£1000 region
so gran will just have to suffer for a few days. Obviously if this was
a long term thing would pay the £500~£1000 but as it is "only" four days ...
