Windermere - Toxic
According to the BBC:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cumbria/4110060.stm
Windermere is toxic! That'll be good for tourism. It's a pity they
banned the fast boats as this algae requires calm non-turbulent water to
flourish. I bet the National Park Authority never saw that coming!

I wonder if they'll ask us back... :)

All the fast boats in England couldn't stop an algae bloom in a
lake the size of Windermere.

I've seen plenty of algae in busy small waterways over the past
40 years. You underestimate nature.

yup sounds like sour grapes. We have algae in some of the Texas lakes where
fast boats and water skiers flourish.

Yup, seen it too. The algae are very busy in Holland, where waterways
are heavily used. Detergents have to have low phosphates, which the
algae love.

Maybe it's a ploy to keep those beastly jetskiers etc. off the lake....

I have also seen this algae thriving in turbulent waters (two posts in
one...)
