Ravenglass Charter Fair
Well, the sun shone at least part of the time, and the 5 or 6 morris sides
present all had a good time. I didn't see young Andy, but if he was there
he'd have got himself a bit confused as there were 2 female sax players
present among the huge number of musicians, and if he'd gone up to the other
one and said, "Hello Ally!" she'd have been totally bewildered.
Yesterday we went on the Ratty up to Dalegarth & Boot. I've been here 8
years and this was my first time - a Ratty Virgin, I was! Lovely wee train.
I'd recommend it to anyone visiting the area, and to others like me who live
here but have never got around to it. Whether you'd want to travel up with
several coachloads of morris dancers is another matter, of course...

Congratulations!! My untameable sexuality dictates that 99 times out of 100
a virgin becomes less ratty when he/she's lost her cherry. All those pent-up

Hmm... well, the rattling of the wee train certainly had a certain frisson,
but I'm afraid it didn't compare with the cherry-losing.... (If I can

Heh heh. Nothing false about me. I'm the same person online and inlife,
except, of course, that online I am slimmer, younger and more beautiful....
We should do another boink. We tend to wait until someone is coming from
far-flung places, but we don't really have to, do we? If enough of us locals
wanted to get together, there ain't nothing to stop us.
There have been no takers for your suggestion of a boink further south,
although I've mentioned it a couple of times. How about moving east a bit?
It would be nice to meet Dave Licquorice, for example, although I don't
think you'd want to travel all the way from Dalton to Alston for a night
out!
Any takers? Any ideas?

We're having a long longed for heatwave at the moment. Terrific. A week in
France and a week in Horten would be ok.
Ryanair - Stansted to Torp (Sandefjord)
Ryanair- Prestwick to Torp (Sandefjord)
cc50 return pp.
If one wishes to come mobile the boat docks in Kristiansand at the weekends
now for you people. For us, the time table has been turned upside down and
we can't come from Kristiansand any more, which was really handy, because it
brings us in to Newcastle in the middle of the week and we can't afford B&B
+ holiday cottage-gees-blooming disappointing. Kristiansand is just 5
hours-buggying along at a nice pace drive from here and Ken had cottage
owners willing to let their cottages to us from Friday to Friday instead of
start dates Saturdays. Balls! We had finally got it right when the DFDS
changed there time tables.
Me-a'az fer Ryanair nu, frae Torp til Preswick und rent yan uv them la'al
ziiiiiiiiiip cars - nut frae "Avis" coss they cost unecessarily 3 times as
much as t'uther firms. :o(

Don't do yoursel' down so.... I wuv you just the way you are!!

Well, I'm not surprised... We (I and some offcomers) were just talking about
this the other day. Furnessians, especially those of the Deep South, are
wholly an unhappy bunch... and you wouldn't want a night out down here. Walk
down Dalton Rd smiling and some prat and pals will ask you in heathen tones
'what the f___ are you smiling at?'. (Do it in a pub and you won't even get
asked - believe me, I've made that mistake!) Some pillock, again usually
with mates in tow, would happily give you a kicking just "'cos you don't
come from Barra".... Jeez. That's why we moved out here, into this hidden,
civilised niche!!

Dave can possibly meet us halfway... Though *we would* travel to those
far-flung places *IF* there was a stopover thrown in.

Taking a Centipede to Church
A single guy decides life would be more fun if he had a pet. So he went
to the pet store and told the owner that he wanted to buy an unusual pet.
After some discussion, he finally bought a centipede (a 100-legged bug)
that came in a little white box to use for his house.
He took the box back home, found a good location for the box, and decided he
would start off by taking his new pet to church with him, so he asked the
centipede in the box, "Would you like to go to church with me today? We will
have a good time."
But there was no answer from his new pet.
This bothered him a bit, but he waited a few minutes and then asked him
again, "How about going to church wi! th me and receive blessings?" But
again, there was no answer from his new friend and pet. So he waited a
few minutes more, thinking about the situation.
He decided to ask him one more time; this time putting his face up
against the centipede's house and shouting, "Hey, in there ! Would you
like to go to church with me and learn about The Lord!?"

You can have my job any day. It's one that you inherit from the day you are
born to the day you die.
Washing dishes: washing floors. washing clothes. washing windows. washing
steps. washing carpets.washing insides of cars. washing. outsides of cars.
washing kids. washing push bikes. washing prams. washing walls. washing
ceilings. washing dogs. washing indoors. washing outdoor. washing cookers.
washing baths. no pay. no holidays-then-doing the same for everybody else.
Wannit?
oh I. I almost forgot. I'm a carpenter too, and a gardener and a nurse and
a lover and a sjfr and in the middle of making a little table. I've
managed to centre the legs in the middle. Will someone please screw it
together for me? Oh gowan. OK if you won't, I'll blooming do it myself.
Plonk!
Edith.

Why does your gynaecologist leave the room when you get undressed?
The land you own... Do you own it all the way down to the core of the earth?
Why can't you put on mascara with your mouth closed?
What's your middle name?
Why can't you brush your teeth without wiggling your arse?
Why is it called Alcoholics Anonymous when the first thing you do is stand
up and say, "My name is Edith, and I am an alcoholic"?
Can you still speak Serbian?
Why is there a light in you fridge and not in your freezer?
Have you noticed that mineral water that has trickled through mountains for
centuries has a 'use by' date? Does that bother you?
Are you related to Slobodan Milosevic?
Why does your toaster have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible
crisp no one would eat?
What's the most illegal thing you've ever done?
Why do you point to your wrist when asking for the time, but don't point to
your crotch when asking, "where's the bathroom?"
Where's the weirdest place you ever had sex?
Why is it that when I told you that there are over billion stars in the
universe, you believed me, but when I told you the paint was wet you had to
touch it to make sure?
Are you rich?
Have you stopped brutalising your boyfriend?
Is Jesus really the answer?
Why do you never respond to my email?

A brewskie at work? We used to keep beer in the fridge here but
that was when we were in our twenties. Now it's filtered water,
various juices and the odd bit of fruit.
It's not even lunch-time here yet.

Seems you spend too much time washing. No sooner do you wash something than
it just gets dirty again. Why bother? Just leave them all dirty. It's the
state they all want to be in, anyway. Make your surroundings happy and leave
them dirty, and then you'll free up loads of time to go swimming in the
fjord or bonking or something pleasant like that.

I was relating tales of the good old days to the kiddies at work recently.
My fellow worker of the Cajun persuasion (JP won't let me call him a xxxx
xxx anymore) and I would work weekends. Frequently we'd be the only two
people on the building floor. He'd bring his portable TV to watch the LSU
football game and when we got hungry he'd call the local Pizza Hut and get a
pizza delivered. After a few weeks of this we got to know the Pizza Hut
folks and would have the delivery guy stop at the local convenience store
and pick up two six packs of ice cold beer. That came to an end when the
cleaners complained about the excessive number of beer cans they had to
remove on Sunday night.

Re: Ravenglass Charter Fair
I reckon I probably have one of the finest Bishops in the UK.
Always there when needed. Never flinches at what has to be done.
Does an excellent job AND enjoys doing so. All of the females who
avail themselves of the Bishops services are effusesive in their
praises. It truely is a spiritual experience for all of them. Nearly
all of them return when the need arises which in some cases is very
often. I must have one of the biggest best provided for in the UK.
The body is about nine and a half inches long with a handsome purple
mitre on top. Mind you the back-up available is phenomenal.
The general diameter? Well!! When standing to attention, and that
happens quite often, is over two inches. Testicles? About the size of
a medium grade hens egg.
Yes life is wonderful.

So presumably these cans are being recycled, and it's profitable enough for
the recycling company to pay for their raw materials (i.e., used cans). I
wonder how they manage to make it economical? It's something we could do
with learning from them, here, where recycling companies struggle to make
ends meet.

Naw..... Samento's from the Uncaria tomentosa vine deep in the Peruvian rain
forest, and Noni's from the Morinda citrifolia tree and is a tad South
Pacific. The ole Samento is a good all-round antimicrobial (been shown to be
successful in treating over 300 illnesses you know), and the Noni is
antiviral and detoxifying.
Dunno about VIPs but we get to go and lecture at some posh medical

Don't do yourself down. You may not have a degree, but you're a damn sight
cleverer in real life than we see here. Not only that, but you've got a

I agree, they tested the one in Waco twice and came up negative then sent
some bits to England for a real test. So how many pass the cheap test? I
don't doubt that they burn the carcases of any suspects, they're just not
admitting how many suspects there are.

Nae lad. It's a waist o money, putting pennies in the pockets o the fat
Priests and the merchants. Let her have her dress and boquette and have them
hold hands over the fountain in the garden and vow their love from there to
eternity. Much more beautiful. Then have a slap up feed afterwards.

Children-Grand Children- Great Grand children. I had the place turned upside
down by mine last night. Just been hoovering up digestive biscuits which the
youngest preffered instead of strawberries and cream-doh! EH? and putting
all the pillows back in their place and putting my whip away. No trouble at

The Scottish Live 8 concert was on at Murrayfield in Edinburgh last night.
Some of it was broadcast on BBC3 (for those who are able to receive it) but
the whole thing could be watched live on streaming video on the BBC Scotland
website. Pity it kept crashing, but the bits I saw were good. Many were
bands who are rather famous in Scotland but unheard of elsewhere. Steve, who
really knows his music, was somewhat bemused by people like Snow Patrol, for
instance, and he can't stand the Proclaimers.
It came at the end of an extremely stressful day in Edinburgh, where major
roads were blocked by G8 protesters and riots occurred in the sleepy little
village of Aucherarder. Stirling, a pleasant small town in the central belt,
has recently been upgraded (god knows why) to city status, causing some of
these southern troublemakers to suppose it was a big place.... and then
there were the ones who thought because the road had been closed they could
take a pleasant stroll across the Ochil Hills to get to Gleneagles....
nobody told them about the boggy bits...
Oh, we never had so much fun when I lived there! Have you seen the photos?
There was even one of a naked man holding a plackard in Princes Street. Heh.
The best I ever managed to see was a lunatic exposing himself in a snowstorm
in St Andrew St in February....

People who can't be categorized are the best. Who wants to be stuck in a
pigeon-hole along with loads of others just like yourself?
Creative people like you, Edith - and like many who post here regularly,
strangely enough (must be something about this place that attracts them) -
tend to be more individualistic, more eccentric, more difficult to pin down.
There ain't no diploma for this sort of thing!
Once everyone else has been properly categorized, we are the ones who are
left. The odd bits and pieces scattered around the table that can't be
filed, pigeon-holed or described. We are unique! We are ONES of a kind!
Hurrah!

Not really.
They make tents when they are here, with my quilts and things and move all
my bric a brac around. It's great fun tidying up after them when they have
gone. It's like going on a treasure hunt. I'm afraid my polar bear and my
brown bear experienced the call of the wild last night. They were looking a
bit dilapidated this morning when I found them in one of the bunk beds.

Agreed. All the while putting Canadian cattle ranchers out of
business by saying we have it and you don't therefore trade is
forbidden.
And if the beef business is so bad, then why is it still $30 a

It was only Bachman and Cummings from the old Guess Who band.
They called themselves the Bachman Cummings Band. Original, eh?
They take care of business in BTO style though.
Sounds like you are having a busy time of it at work. Are the

I'm still using dial-up so streaming video is wishful thinking. I don't
care for the Proclaimers either but from the website I noticed the lineup
included The Corrs and James Brown. They would have been worth watching.

While searching for the photos I came across the news about the bombs in
London. Ohmygawd! I'm going to see if I can find out more about what
happened. I've been so busy today I haven't even turned the radio on.

Yup. All the usual stuff with new paperwork and reports due everyday. The
geezers are on something alright. They're sure giving the on-call nurse
phone number a workout. Night and day. I'm starting to wonder if we are a
form of amusement for them. Or maybe the geezer's families have put our
phone number on speed dial and taken theirs off.

Rolled in cornmeal and fried in olive oil? Don't think so.
Not with this local.
Maybe in Texas.
There is a new shop near here that sells mostly shrimp but they also have
aligator meat. I haven't tried it. I'm partial to pigs and cows myself.

My parents, very naively, thought you couldn't shorten Allison to anything,

Not sure if it works like that, actually. TV and radio broadcasts may be
picked up by aliens, but all the rubbish we post here would vanish if all
the world's computers somehow all failed together and forever. Not very
likely, mind, but in this book I'm reading.... (the same one I mentioned
elsewhere) there's a metal virus rampant that eats up everything made of
metal - including computers, of course - and modern civilization is rapidly
collapsing. In that situation my words of wisdom would be lost forever.
Maybe it's time to print out everything important on real, solid paper

In the Beano or the Dandy people used to tie a piece of string to the
offending tooth, tie the other end to the door handle and slam the door.
There were always hilarious consequences, which in my somewhat confused
memory always seemed to involve policemens' helmets...
Children don't read 'proper' comics any more, do they? It's all Viz or
2000AD (neither of which is suitable for primary school kids, though I do
have a certain affection for them myself...) or some unimaginative spin-off
from TV.
Don't take out your own teeth. What will happen if the tooth breaks (like
mine did in the dentist's chair)? It's too risky. Just wait until it works
itself loose naturally, if you can't afford the extortionate dental fees.

Samento make you younger? I would hope so. Some o' them Shamans reckon on
being over 400 years old and don't look a day over 120.
Noni fruit juices, or that so-called Tahitian Noni drink, will cause some to
gain weight. It's full of various sugars. If you ever tasted Noni raw you'll

You're easily shocked. Yes, I did know this other use of the word 'bear' but
that doesn't mean it can't still describe a large hairy mammal of the ursus
variety, or a cuddly children's toy.
It just irritates me a wee bit that some gay blokes seem to think they're
the only ones who are allowed to like hairy men. I'm a straight woman and I
like them too. What does that make me? Confused, for starters...
Might be fun to turn up, as a woman, at one of these gatherings of gay
bears. They do say that all bear-admirers are welcome, after all.

Wiggly teeth are part and parcel of life between 7 and 12 years, but do
adult teeth work themselves loose, naturally? I don't think they do.
This is why tooth pulling is a pre-historic profession, along with
barber-surgery amputation and cut-your-losses Caesarian section.
The root of my molar cracked in my dentist's chair earlier this year,
when my dentist was attempting to start a root canal on it, and I had to
have an oral surgeon remove the thing in bits. The dentist charged me
for the preparatory work on the tooth. He's flying out of New York for
Rome for a Mediterranean cruise this month.
Seriously, the toxins from a broken or infected tooth can pose serious
risks to the health of your heart, liver and kidneys.

I'll be down at the health store on Monday asking for Samento and I just

Hmmm.... Well, I do get mistaken for their elder brother but I'm still in my
40's!!
You can't buy Samento Extract in a health store in Norway (or the UK) yet.
It's still unlicensed pending further trials. DON'T get conned into buying
Cat's Claw. It's not the same thing.....
If you want to get some via the internet go to my website and look under
Distributors.... a direct link is:

historical info have a look at
http://www.samento.com.ec/sciencelib/sammain.html (Ecuadorean website - in
English and Spanish) As a favour I can get you some at a reasonable
discount.

You have mine as well. At least I can pass the beeper off to someone else
occasionally.
I spent Friday night shopping at the mall with my 17 year old. Almost made
me miss the geezers. We were looking for a dress shirt and tie. He did not
undertand why a Ramones Rocket To Russia shirt (without holes) did not
qualify as a dress shirt. Then, he was "embarrassed to death" when I held
up a shirt and merely said it looked nice. Several girls from school were
in the store at the time. <sigh> teenagers

OK. Thank you, Kezzi. By the time I've done an exchange, paid a check and
postage, things usually cost double up. I'll think about it. First I'll do a
little research. Thank you.

It's not... It's been around since the '80s. It's just that there is lot of
controversy about it's effectiveness against the 'non-existent' Lyme Disease
(non-existent, that is, outside the US) and many neuropathic and chronic
fatigue immune dysfunction syndromes. The Ashaninka Indians in Peru have
used the extract for over 400 years and have no understanding of many
'Western' ailments.
Anyway, I can buy it in 'locally' at a 25% discount and postage won't be
much to Norway. In fact, I'd even be prepared to pay the postage on the
strength that I am certain you would benefit like I did.
Bottle and packaging weighs about 40gms. If you know anyone in the States I
have a contact there who can do it even cheaper, though I don't order it
direct from there because of the risk of Customs costs. Don't know if that
applies if someone is sending it to you as 'a prezzie'....

I don't know. You have to pay customs on everything you import here. Even
from Swede, which is like, Wales-England with police customs patrol, doh! or
Scotland-England.The Noni capsules have reduced my pains and I have hardly
taken a chemical pain killer since I started on them so why not try Noni and
Samento together as the ad suggests. If it'll mek me 20 yeers yunger, why
nut ;)

Same with me. I was on daily morphine for 27 years and within 4 days of
taking Samento I have managed with very occasional codeine phosphate. Noni
and Samento together (but taken 30 minutes apart as they lose some effect
when taken at the same time) are an excellent naturopathic combination BUT
you MUST detox, drink plenty of fresh water, and avoid alcohol and ciggies!!

Oh, there are some there I hadn't seen before. They must bring out new ones
all the time. Do they 'retire' them like beanie babies?
'Arran' the knitting bear appeals to my sense of the surreal. I think he/she
