Grange Over Sands
Hiya,

Any live near Grange?

Popping up for the week on Sunday, wondered what the weather's like at the
moment...

Planning plenty of things to do during the daylight hours, some walks,
exploring the places I remember from previous visits over the years, travel
by steam train to Windermere, have a boat trip on the lake.

Not used the new swimming pool before, so that'll be interesting if I can
resist the desire to moan at the old open-air one closing down years ago!
That was great as a kid!

But, what is there to do in the evening in and around Grange?! I'll be
travelling alone and don't want to spend every evening sitting in the B&B
watching tv!

Some evenings I plan to travel elsewhere for my evening meal, maybe hop on a
train to Lancaster to the cinema and Cartmel's got some nice places to eat,
I seem to recall.

Cheers in advance.

Oh dear, hot and sticky here in Surrey, like the sticky toffee pudding from
Cartmel ;-)

The bbc website reckons there'll be some sun though over the weekend and
next week, I hope.

Hmm, maybe.

Well, if she's anywhere near Kents Bank Road, two chips'll be just fine.

"la'als" ? Got me there, if my nan was still alive, who lived in Grange for
years, I'd ask her!

Thanks. Oh, I know I will do, be nice to get away from my busy life down
here, to somewhere not within a few miles of as motorway or on a busy road
and where people talk to you in the street!

I'll be taking lots of photos and will post a link to them when I get back
home again, unless I decide to stay in Cumbria ;-)

More practice?

Just been looking on the 'net, found a website about limestone pavements
that obviously mentions Hampsfell. On the map there's a place called Brown
Robin nature reserve, that's new to me, worth a visit Edith?

So you have the bug too. Everyone want to stay in Cumbria when they get
there. Trouble is, it seems much easier on the drawing board than it does in
practice.

Lots, Andy. Banging my head against the wall. We've just had a terrific hail
storm. Now it's quiet and strange. I went for a walk today and there were
two seldom birds on the football field. They had straight red beaks, beige
on their sides, a white ring around their breast and back and the rest of
them was black. At first I thought they were ducks then they flue up into
the trees.

I should think so, Andy. Those brave little Robins know how to guard their
patch. I miss them. I can't make a wish without seeing them and I was hoping
to win the lotteri, share out a bit and buy a cottage in Keswick.

I doubt she'll make it so far south. I forgot to tell you that Ally is 92
years old and holds a horn to her ear as is stone deaf. You'll have to shout
aloud if you want to talk to her about limestone pavements.

Re: Grange Over Sands
If you get there early enough on Sunday, Andy, get yourself across to
Ravenglass where the Charter Fair will be in full swing on Sunday, complete
with yours truly and my trusty band of women morris dancers.
www.belfagan.org.uk

Well, they're not exactly *my* morris dancers... I just play sax for them,
and occasionally join in a dance or two when they're short of numbers and
the audience is blind enough not to notice that I really haven't a clue what
I'm doing... But the charter fair is worth coming for - lots of stuff going
on, and a couple of good pubs in the village too. And if you do come, please
come and say hello - I'm easy to spot as I don't think any of the other
sides have a sax in their band.

Enjoy your holiday.

Anyways, I've no idea where Kents Bank Road is, but if he pops across to
Ravenglass on Sunday I might even stand him a pint of Jennings if he behaves
himself, so there.

rofl.I don't have a barn so they'll just have to sleep in the cemetery
across the road with the rest of the stiffs-titter.

Kents Bank Road is where I'm staying in Grange, quite a bit south of where
you are I think!

A very nice offer, thank you. Just read your other post to me, about the
Charter Fair and had a look at the belfagan website.

If I have enough time on Sunday, I may well carry on up to Ravenglass and
say hi. I think the sax is a wonderful instrument (never seen it used in
morris dancing) and like live music and things like that.

I'm sorry, Edith, I didn't allow for time differences, but I thought the

Nice pictures Andy. Thank you. The titles are a bit 'dry.' Put a bit o
fantasy into them, hey. Makes the picture even more interesting.

ps.I fell for the black alpaca ;o)

Aye, they may call social services!

Lovely morning down here, just checking the Grange weather, very humid and
risk of thundery showers! The week's forecast is good though, sunny/cloudy
and not too hot for some good walks.

Yep, I do need to do some more work on the titles, I'll do that when I get
back.

Thanks jp, fantastic walk that one, even when you don't have female company
for the day! Done it twice.

There'll be blue birds over - the white cliffs of Dover - tomorrow - just
you wait and see.

Edith says, press the camera tight to your eye when you take pictures,to
prevent it moving.

Re: Grange Over Sands
I have an overwhelming need to share this with you all. Its about what
I hate most about newsgroups . . . . control freaks like netnannies
and net cops and here is why.

They are like when a little bit of shite gets stuck just inside yer
rectum not far enough down that you can squeeze it either in or out.
It just lies there, you feel it but can do nought about it. It just
sits there and irritates the hell out of you. The only effect is the
production of irritation nothing else. That is really what they are
like. They achieve nothing else. The trolls are still there!!

Shite in yer rectum will eventually be resolved. Netnannies and
netcops are always there. The name and individual may change but there
is always some shit baiting and upsetting harmless trolls. The effect
is to give the troll a mission in life. Look at the uk.local hierarchy
at the moment, yorkshire, birmingham and essx in particular. Ruined
for the average poster. The majority of groups are empty, except for
troll droppings, spam and the odd genuine post!!!

What amazes me is that some of the netnannies not only boast about
reporting contributors to their ISP but attempt to get other people
to do the same. This gives the troll an extra boast of "adrenaline".
Its all beyond me!

Maybe I am too sensitive a guy.

Thanks for your interest.
