Incorrect vehicle details on V5C log book?
I recently bought a second hand car. It is a Daewoo Lanos SE but the V5C
log book shows it as the "S" model and not "SE". The S is the basic
model and the SE has a bit extra trim level plus ABS and a rev counter.
When I notified my Insurers of a change of vehicle, I asked them to
check what model type is recorded on their database and from the
registration number they confirmed that their records show the vehicle
is the "SE" and not "S". How do I go about having the V5 changed to
show the correct SE model? I have the new log book back in my name but
I can't see anywhere in the blue section (Changes to Current Vehicle)
that allow me to alter the model / type. I wouldn't normally bother but
if I come to sell the car it may well, and understandably, put people
off buying it if the log book shows a different model type.

Phone the DVLA and ask them

It's really as simple as that isn't it. They also answer emails. Ok it's
been a tiring day so I'm not at my most relaxed (until I fetch the cider out
of the fridge that is) but why do people ask such blindingly simple
questions? It's not rocket science to read the V5 and see if there's a phone
number on it or go online and visit the DVLA website.

The DVLA is some official organistation or something, huh? People get
scared with stuff like that. Piss their pants, or something.

The last time I had cause to ring the DVLA I had such a nightmare trying
to get through to a real human (press 1 for this, 2 for that, 3 for the
other and eventually being put on hold indefinitely that I thought
someone here might have had similar experience and know what is
involved. If my question was so "blindingly simple", why not answer it,
or simply move along if it's out of your scope.

Do it the old fashioned way and write to them. Sooner or later you'll get
an answer - and from a person, not a machine.

I had a similar problem. I had a manual car and it said automatic on the V5.
I wrote to the DVLA and I think I even filled out the correctons bit of the
V5. When I got a new-style V5 though, it still said 'automatic' on it. And
it was over a year since I told them.
It's not really imporatnat I suppose so I never persued it.

Cheers

Think I will just send the V5 back with a covering letter pointing out
the error. Not sure if they will want to have the car examined? but
I've got no problem with that so long as they don't expect me to pay!

I emailed them last time I had a query and got a reply about 2 days
later. It was ever so simple. Likewise the last time I had to phone
them. Now if you'd said that you phoned them and the nasty DVLA were so
frightening that you needed you hand held next time...

I don't want you to hold my hand, but if I had to phone the DVLA,
I'd quite like you to pay the phonebill, and sit around on hold
for hours, instead of me.

Rang them today (see other thread). <2 mins to get to a human, 30 seconds
for the answer.

I'd not send back the V5 - after all they'll have it on the computer. When
they issue the new one simply destroy the old one.

Yes, and I also rang them today. "All our 220 lines are busy, try again

Yes, since they can answer the phone on time once, they obviously never
cause lengthy phonecalls which waste hours. Not.
