What's the connection with Gladstone?
Do you notice how humble malt vinegar is packaged by Heinz in the United
States as lardy-da "Gourmet"? :-) The price reflects it, too, but there
are enough ex-pat Brits and Irish to make it worthwhile for the better
supermarkets to stock it.
I had a smashing battered fillet of cod at the International House of
Pancakes the other evening. Crispy and yielding and
not-too-over-seasoned on the outside and soft and flaky on the inside.
The service was not up to much by American standards. No vinegar was
offered and I had to ask for a wedge of lemon and tartare sauce which
were offered on the menu.

I'm just looking at my bottle of Heinz Apple Cider Vinegar-16 LF OZ
(1PT).473 ml. The bottle is still made of glass and the etiquet has a
picture of every vegetable you can think of. Nice design considering it's
made from apples only and doesn't cost that much in th Co-oP.

Yup! You get the slice of lemon with the fish here, seldom battered unless
you buy import or fish fingers.
