I'm glad someone does. I'm hopeless with birthdays. I've even been known to
forget my own.

my ever accurate calendar has nothing significant for the 15th but it has
two for the 24th.

Correct. Now, who is this mystery male, a very significant member of our
group who has made his presence known, hey?

Well, here's a clue. It only happens once in a life time.

Men are quite often secretive about their birthdays, so I'm not holding
my breath waiting for him to come forward. But a birthday isn't a
once-in-a-lifetime event.

Very significant? Hmmmm....

You are born.
Your mother dies.
Your father dies.
Plenty of others, younger siblings born, any sibling dies...

In this context I guess it's an event with a "0" at the end.

Yeah, that'd be fun. "Come on hen, be brave! You may be about to experience

it you'll have a smelly, sticky, screaming, small human to show for it! All

subject..... you couldn't do a wee sun dance for us for this evening, could
you? Belfagan are dancing in my village this evening and the rain has been
constant all day. I'd love them to come to my back garden and watch a
glorious sunset over the Scottish hills, after a bit of dancing in the dry.
Go on.... a wee sundance... please?

Well, ok then. I'll do it while I put on the kettle just for the sake of
those poor dogs of yours. It's a bit early in the day so don't expect too
much. I'm still half asleep and those pirouettes make me dizzy.

Well, I don't know how you managed it, since you didn't do your dance until
*after* we'd danced, but the rain did stop, and although it wasn't exactly
sunny, it was dry and pleasant enough for dancing, so well done, in
retrospect or something.

Well that's ok then. Despite what Edith may tell you to the contrary, I've
never donned a pair of big green knickers in my life, so any that I might be
trying to flog on eBay must still be brand new complete with swing tickets.

Well, if you think about it, they are pretty wildly known. For sure on the

Oh, giver 'er a break. I saw the video. She didn't even use 'em.

Since she and her friend did that televison show from this area we have been
bombarded with other reality show people. That is worth ragging on her for.
MTV Real World is in the area tonight. Some other show that knocks a
family's home down and builds a new one is also in the neighborhood. People
act like idiots. They all want to be on TV. It is fun watching from a
distance. But, I can see it now. Arkansans will be stereotyped yet again.
"Hillbillies party with Real World Cast". Or something like that.

It better be really good or I'm switching to Antique Road Show.

Can't sleep. The cure for that is count sheep and think of the mountains in
Cumbria and then you will dream yourself across the Mediterranean to
Cumbria.

Halibut (a fish) sounds a bit like "hell of it". Flounder =
another type of flat fish.

Hello Edith :)
I've been having a pretty rough time of it lately ; I've spent 12
weeks in hospital this year so far, had two operations (1 kidney,
1 bowel), and my weight dropped by 2 stones to 7 1/2 stones !

On the plus side; I've beaten kidney cancer for the second time,
I've put on half a stone and am beginning to feel normal, they're
(hopefully) going to put my intestines back to normal in the autumn,
and I'll be a pensioner from monday (at the age of 42).

lol. I have more than enough understanding flat fish. It's so nice to have
you back, Sleepy. You got me writing verse, you know.

Talking about fish, have you seen all those strange creatures swimming at
the bottom of the sea on The Richard Attinborough show. They're like aliens
deluxe..wow..out of this world. There must be more to them than we
understand. They're enormous freaky.

Bless you darling. I'm glad you're getting better. Put your feet up and
enjoy your pension years. You deserve it. Age doesn't count when you need
care. Maybe you'll be able to go home to Cumbria for a holiday when you are
feeling well enough.

Hey Sleepy, there's a storm in the air and a rainbow just came out. It must
be yours. Hope you find a pot of gold at the end of it.

I prefer verse set to music - I love a good tuna - though I don't
sing along, I whale.

Well yes, there're some amazing creatures down there, but I don't
find them so hard to understand: they still fall into recognizeable
categories; shrimp, fish, worm, etc..
The diversity of species reflects the diversity of habitat (and the
length of time those species have had in which to adapt).

hope you wore ithe T-shirt all day. From my experience UK t-shirts are good
for one wear only after that they seem to lose half their thickness in the
wash and start unravellign at the seams.

They have a habit of turning from a 'T' shape based on one tall and one
wide rectangles into something based on a selection of parallelograms,
trapezia and other more daring quadrilaterals. They then require
muscling down with a steam iron to take out the creases.

American T-shirts, which we have purchased in large quantities since Mr
P's first trip Stateside in 1995, can be tumbled dry at moderate heat
and, with a quick shake, restored to smoothness with a quick flip,
folded and put away. The same goes for the ones purchased on trips to
Johnny-land.

sadly I cannot commed the T-shirts from Johnny-land. My Maple Leafs
t-shirts started to disintegrate/unravel after the first wash but at least
the Algonquin shirt lives on after 10 years.

there's probably nothing wrong with a decent T-shirt made in Taiwan but the
UK souvenier peddlers buy the cheapest crap and thinnest crap they can find
on the assumption that the great unwashed that buy them will not be in the
neighnourhood when they start to disintegrate.

That's not surprising, Al. The Leafs suck. I'll send you a nice
quality Sens T-shirt if you like. I have several that have
lasted many years - some with very nice under-stated designs.
Leafs gear is all garish.

I could never support a team which pluralised "Leaf" like that.

When I was in Johnny-Town last year, the Leafs were playing the Sens and
in the underground parking garage beside the Johnny-Parliament they were
charging Leafs Supporters double the daily rate for any period of parking.

Mr P has considered employment in Toronto, which we know is held in low
regard by Johnny. I thought it was quite nice, really.

I had a few Johnnyland t-shirts some time back. My pal, whose sister lives
in Toronto, came home with a bag full of stuff the family didn't want any
more and we had a great time rifling through it all. I ended up with a
variety of t-shirts, jumpers and so on, and most of them lasted and lasted
for years. In fact I've still got one, which is still good enough for
gardening in.

My pal goes there frequently to visit her sister and loves the place. It
sounds a bit odd to me, though. People seem to drive everywhere, rather than
walk, and they have an enormously gigantic cinema, iirc.

The Grilled Sea Bass with Fennel, New Potatoes, Sorrel and Pernod on
page 190 is very good. That's a British one. Then there's his East-Coast
USA-inspired Barbecued Shrimp with a homemade coleslaw which is a staple
starter at my Garden Parties these days. Chargrilled snapper's good, too.

I was looking at them from an artists point of view. They move and have
colours and form change that is unbelievably beautiful - except when they
look like something out of a Steven Speilberg film and then I get goose

You probably have to keep to a diet now, Sleepy? No more kebabs for you,
hey?
Edith.

Yes, I'm on the "eat and drink as much as you possibly can" diet.
The emphasis is on high protein - so a kebab would actually be
quite good - and high fat: I'm supposed to take "Calogen" which
is liquid fat - 30ml three times a day, but it's disgusting stuff, so
I've replaced it with chocolate. :)

That's good to hear. I've just downed a bar of chocolate-a whole bar-and I
have a guilty conscience.I think I should have another one to sooth it.

Waddaya think, Sleepy?
Edith.

Re: Dandaran. 14:35 HEY! Lou
I have an overwhelming need to share this with you all. Its about what
I hate most about newsgroups . . . . control freaks like netnannies
and net cops and here is why.
They are like when a little bit of shite gets stuck just inside yer
rectum not far enough down that you can squeeze it either in or out.
It just lies there, you feel it but can do nought about it. It just
sits there and irritates the hell out of you. The only effect is the
production of irritation nothing else. That is really what they are
like. They achieve nothing else. The trolls are still there!!
Shite in yer rectum will eventually be resolved. Netnannies and
netcops are always there. The name and individual may change but there
is always some shit baiting and upsetting harmless trolls. The effect
is to give the troll a mission in life. Look at the uk.local hierarchy
at the moment, yorkshire, birmingham and essx in particular. Ruined
for the average poster. The majority of groups are empty, except for
troll droppings, spam and the odd genuine post!!!
What amazes me is that some of the netnannies not only boast about
reporting contributors to their ISP but attempt to get other people
to do the same. This gives the troll an extra boast of "adrenaline".
Its all beyond me!

Maybe I am too sensitive a guy.

Thanks for your interest.
