A lot.

Oh and the Murphy Men holed a high pressure gas main on Warwick Road
outside Tesco around 1500 this afternoon. Drove past, as in next to,
this digger with a loud hissing noise and very strong smell of gas...

When I think of it Dave, I'm glad gas hasn't hit the pipes here------------
yet.

PS.. Kai Hsia shaved her head on a mad whim. Not really Cumbrian news; but

I have heard of people doing that when a friend is going through
chemo but not just for fun. Hope she gets whatever benefit out
of it that she had in mind when she did it.

She has good features so she can probably get away with it. If I did that
now.... I'd look like I'd escaped from Cell Block H...

When we lived in Edinburgh we had friends from another country who would
shave their children's heads when they were about 2 or 3 years old, as they
believed the hair would grow back in much thicker and richer. They certainly
looked beautiful when it grew back in, but they were beautiful kids anyway
so it's hard to tell if it made any difference.

I suspect DS saw the Seinfeld episode where they all "adopt" a senior
citizen and Elaine gets goiter lady who gives her the story of her affair
with Gandhi.

Al-who has a $25 a year budegt for hair cuts.

I'd like to shave my head. I've thought about it lots of times. I have two
problems with it, tho.
1. It will glow back, gray and 2. If it doesn't grow back by winter, what's
left of my brain will freeze solid.

Yes, his hair is very thick and rich, you're right. And my friends were from
the opposite side of the globe, but had the same custom. Very interesting.

Anyone out there with a kid under 3? Want to take part in a wee experiment?

D'you think so, Ally? I'd have to rub my head with hacked nettles and drink
nettle tea then, to solve the problem.

Aha! An as-yet-undiscovered cure for baldness? Shall I recommend this to
Steve? It would certainly be amusing for me to watch if nothing else.

I'm not kidding. A friend tried it, his parents were into herbs and he got a
new lair of blond hair. I suppose you could mash nettles and mix with olive
oil perhaps, easier to spread.? It's a persevering thingie tho' probably not
worth the try??

Re: Cumbria
There seems to be some sort of mis-understanding about newsgroups.
In an effort to broaden your understanding and I wonder if I
could explain the function of < uk.local.*> news groups. All of them,
have been from the very beginning and will be to the very end safe
play areas for all sorts of rageing nutters, social malcontents,
controll freaks and malevolent beings.

You may feel that they should go elsewhere but where? The asylums are
all closed. What would YOU have off them?

Standing in their back yards at midnight howling to the full moon and
frighting the shite out of the neighbours into the bargain?

Have them running around shafting masons, suspected werewolves,
communists, socialists, conservatives and women with vaginal warts by
the dozen? OR harmlessly making utter cunts of themselves in a
uk.local group?

Lets face it what is one other utter cunt amongst the many in this
group?? I know what I prefer!! The uk.local hierarchy of newsgroups is
a valuable safety valve which helps to keep society a wee bit more
safe.

You may disagree. I would be interested to hear your opinion and no
doubt would the rest of the group.

Thanks in advance.
