Entering a 'Family Holiday' Competition, but I don't have kids?
Hi all,
Just a question that I've been wondering about, I usually ignore
competitions where you can win a 'family' holiday/break as I have no kids,
has anyone won one of these but not taken any children. Do you have to take
children? Or could just 2 adults go? I also sometimes (yeah I know I'm soft)
think I won't enter them to give someone who could use the kids places a
chance!
What does anyone else think please?
Thanks,
Caroline x

A family holiday is a family holiday and it seems fair that the prize should go to a family.
There are plenty of comps running where the prize is for two people to win.

I wish a family holiday was NOT always for 2 adults and 2 kids under
12. There are so many that don't fit into that hole these days.
Although you might be able to 'borrow' a couple of kids ;-)

Ar^ch shoulder-charges Carol out of the way and madly waves his arms to
signify that he is first in the queue to offload a couple of kids...and an
Old^Wolf if anyone is daft enough to take him on :-)
Cheers

Quite often the terms and conditions exclude peak time travelling, meaning
families with school-age children can't go anyway!

Re: Entering a 'Family Holiday' Competition, but I don't have kids?
Hi,
Thanks for all your (albeit different) answers!
Think I'll stick to the 'weekend break/holiday for 2' competitions. :o)
Yes, it would feel mean taking a family break prize when a family with 2.5
(?!) children would really appreciate it!
Cheers,
Caroline.

Re: Entering a 'Family Holiday' Competition, but I don't have kids?
Most family holiday prizes are for trips to family resorts - a couple
would be looking either for peace and quiet or a lively nightlife, and
a family resort is likely to have neither. So it probably isn't worth
entering because unless you're happy to step over disposable nappies
on the way to the pool and queue among a crowd of kids for a plate of
turkey twizzlers, you wouldn't enjoy it!

Re: Entering a 'Family Holiday' Competition, but I don't have kids?
if you wd be willing 2 pay for kids to join u on a 'holiday for 2' then
don't feel guilty if u win a family holiday.
The hard part is winning it first - dont reduce your chances by not
even trying.
Most promoters are reasonable and I've been able to make changes to
prize holidays in the past.

I do the same thing as it seems a shame to waste the kids places.

Re: Entering a 'Family Holiday' Competition, but I don't have kids?
Promoters often have a certain amount to spend on the holiday and in my
experience have been willing to negotiate changes. They may upgrade you if
there are only 2 people to spend it on so go for it.

Not usually one adult and one child though, as our household is!
