OT (slightly) PC fans
Looking for a replacement fan for a small cube-shaped PC.
The fan is 80x80x15mm (i.e. rather slim), 12V 6W. None of my
usual component suppliers have one (CPC, Maplin, RS, Farnell).
RS are the only one to have a fan that physical size, but it's
only 1.6W (468-5403) which is probably not enough for cooling
a whole Athlon64 system.

Tried looking at the odd PC supplier like Dabs, and although
they do have some of that physical size, there's no info on
power consumption or airflow and the hint they are just for
video cards, so again probably nowhere near powerful enough.

Anyone got any suggestions of a suitable supplier?

The original fan which only lasted for around 4 months
continuous use is pictured here:

and strangely, the date stamp on mine is exactly the
same as in this picture. "Everflow" seems like a
remarkably inappropriate name in the circumstances;-)

Hi Andrew,

I believe Zalman fans could well be what your after. They do high
performance slimline 80mm fans.

Try www.overclock.co.uk and http://www.quietpc.com for these.

Their website is here http://www.zalman.co.kr/

cheers

There's a Sanyo-Denki fan with those dimensions here:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Sanyo_Denki_73.html

Not sure what Sanyo-Denki is like ... if it is part of Sanyo, as it
suggests, then it should be OK. This description *does* give an airflow
rating of 31.7 CFM. Does that seem OK? I wouldn't worry too much about
the power of the fan - they will all be fairly similar, and I would be
surprised if any modern motherboard was unable to power a 'standard'
80mm fan.
