o/t Hotel or bed and breakfast accomodation
Just a long shot. Been trawling the internet and sent off several email
messages. As a single parent Im struggling to find somewhere that doesnt do
a discounted rate for children without having two adults...... you would
think owners would realise there is a niche market for single parents but
they don't.

Anywa ideas? Contemplating Great Yarmouth or Skegness but would be open to
other suggestions if anyone can think of anywhere. Haven't completely ruled
out Wales yet either. Started looking at caravan or chalets first but
realised as I am tied to the school holidays (work in a school) that its
probably going to be more of a holiday to go B and B or half board and not
cost that much more as many caravans are in excess of 500. They are lovely
but aimed at bigger families.

My friend and I had talked about going away together as two single parents
but as we feed each others cats, this isn't really possible. So sharing with
someone is out. My two will be 15 and 12.

Any suggestions? Can anyone recommend anywhere? We can't afford to go abraod
this year as holidays to even the chaper resorts are coming up in excess of
1600 just for 3 of us, again being penalised for being a single parent and
not a fmaily of 4 (although I suppose everyone else that doesn't fit neatly
into the equation of being a couple of 2 or a family of 4 has exactly the
same problems). Can't really afford to spend mega-bucks.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Travel Inn, Holiday Inn Express & Travel Lodge all charge by the room and
that can work out cheap especially if you get in on one of the offers...we
stayed at one of these at Gt Yarmouth but can't remember which and we got a
deal 2 days for 46....

If you did want to go abroad, you could try searching somewhere like
Expedia (and if you do use Expedia, plesae do it through comps.org link! :-)
for flight-only offers to somewhere nice, where the accomodation is a lot
cheaper than it is over here.

We booked this apartment last November 2004. Paid 395.00

Is this the sort of accommodation you're looking for?

I know when kids were younger <been a single mum for 18 years now> there was holiday arrangers called SPLASH so googled for single
parent holidays splash and came up with following should be plenty for you to work on there Chris

Re: o/t Hotel or bed and breakfast accomodation
Try Choice hotels
Great value 3 night family breaks from just 220 but they do half price
deals for single parents and includes full breakfast and dinner, kids eat
free they also do free packed lunches in summer breaks and some hotels have
leisure facilities with swimming pool etc. Fantastic deals and superb
hotels, and loads of places to choose from.

http://www.choicehotelseurope.com/uk_ireland/promotions/index.htm

Also Premiertravelinn do half price or less booking on the internet, just
register
for deals,
http://www.premiertravelinn.com/pti/home.do

Travelodge do rooms for a tenner and reduced rates from 26.00. You
have to register

http://www.travelodge.co.uk/

and Innkeepers lodge do special internet rates and free nights but again you
have to register from 39.95 plus Free continental breakfast
http://www.innkeeperslodge.com/index.asp

All these sites also have competitions so try entering to win free nights
etc.

I truly recommend Choice Hotels because you don't have to worry about
feeding the kids and if you choose one with leisure facilities they can
always
go swimming if it rains!

Be lucky

Carolyn

www.mangoholidays.co.uk

feature single family holidays, although couples can go i think. Found
recently while looking for family outing sites etc.
maybe a possibility for a future year if not this one.
