o/t advice please regarding prize not given
I'm spitting bricks at the moment. Some of you may have read that I had a
wtc from HMV on Friday to say I'd won 2 tix to the premier of the new
Orlando Bloom film this evening. My daughter and her boyfriend have gone
instead cos I can't go (hubby has an early flight tomorrow), and they were
really looking forward to it.
My daughter just phoned me from the HMV store at the Trocadero where we were
supposed to pick up the tix from the Store manager. The manager isn't on
duty but the chap in charge knows nothing about it - someone else who must
have won too has also been in to pick up tickets and they just know nothing
about it! Head Office is closed, it being Bank Holiday, and the store can't
produce tickets it doesn't have. Paula tried walking round to the cinema to
see if they'd been left in the box office there but it's so crowded they
can't get near.
I am so sad for them - what a disappointment. I shall be on the phone
tomorrow to try to get the rail fare re-imbursed, but that's not the point -
they really wanted to be involved in the whole 'premier' experience. Any
ideas please?

oh damn what a shame, hope you get it sorted, i would ask to speak to head
of marketing and promotions if the contact you have gives you no joy.

Suggestions -
Can you contact the cinema by phone?
Ask the duty manager to contact someone above him/her - they must have a
plan if an emergency occurred.
Best of luck, fingers crossed for them.

Re: o/t advice please regarding prize not given
I would have to suggest a local (or national) newspaper - Have they got a camera/phone with them take a pic outside the store (INCLUDING the Store name!) - Papers love pics - I feel for them, it must be very disheartening :o(
Might be worth trying the "Bouncers" at the cinema and explaining but I doubt the tickets would be in the cinema.
As it's HMV bad publicity might be met with some sort of compensation for the disappointment.

Re: o/t advice please regarding prize not given - hurrah!
Thanks folks - a bit of persistence paid off! I phoned the store and spoke
to someone who had a bit more common sense and guessed that the tickets
would be with the security officer. Paula nearly had to sign her life away
get the tickets as she had no proof of ID (silly twit!) but they accepted
her NUS card in the end! So they've gone off round to see the film now and
we can all heave a sigh of relief.
Thanks to those of you who replied so quickly with excellent ideas - all of
which I passed on to Paula in the event that she might need to take further
action. I'm indebted to you all.
