it worked when i looked at it originally, i now get this message

submitted my entry I got a message saying "You're only allowed to
enter once and an entry has already been logged from this IP address"

Unless my husband has turned into a secret comper I don't see how that
can have happened.

All of us who have reported this are apparently NTL users, so I think the website is logging the Inktomi Transparent Proxy Server that all NTL customers connect through. Bad design!

yes mike i have noticed that with ntl on certain sites it keeps saying it 
recognises me, obviously because its not a fixed ip address that each of us 
have perhpas someone has entered previously and thats why its recognising 
it, also on broadband plus on ntl the same thing happens on some of the 
music channels when you try and store a list of tracks, when you go bcak it 
has someone elses track list.

Fuzzywuzzy's explanation was more likely in the days before broadband when you might have a new (recycled) IP every time you dialled in, but in these broadband days I (When I notice) keep the same ip for a long time.

Virgin are a "Virtual ISP" - that is they don't have their own hardware but licence it - from NTL!  :o)

The morons are logging IPs.  It means that anyone on dynamic IP runs the 
risk of being rejected because someone else has logged an answer from the 
same address.  Equally, it also means that anyone with a little sense can 
figure out that by disconnecting and reconnecting odds are you'll get a 
different address, and be able to log another entry.  Completely and 
utterly useless as protection mechanism.

I still boggle over the incompetence of some so-called web experts...

Umm, it's not very unlikely at all that two people using the same
ISP would be allocated the same IP address if they don't have static
IP addresses.
