Carlisle City
Blimey, there are just too many car accidents happening in Carlisle. How
many more injuries must there be before a solution is reached.

12 year old school girl trapped under a lorry on Nelson Bridge.
Unbelievable.

Move all schools out of the city. Waddaya think.?

They ought to do a full, modern, impartial, risk assesment of the
motor vehicle. What can be more dangerous than over a tonne of metal
doing upwards of 30mph, controlled by anyone who passed a simple test,
perhaps 40 years ago, passing unprotected inches from pedestrians?

They'd be banned instantly.

Oink, flap, oink, flap.

Why should people be driven out of cities by cars? It should be the
other way round. Commercial deliveries to shops are essential, but
access should be kept away from residential areas. Education authorities
should ensure that children in a school's catchment area do not have to
walk beside or cross roads used by heavy commercial vehicles. If that's
not possible then they need effective barriers to screen footpaths and
bridges and underpasses (with security cameras and supervision) should
be in place. School buses should be available. This all costs money, of
course, but too much is being sacrificed on the altar of the motor
vehicle god.

That would be a start, Dave. Escort the oldies, the biggie and the heavies
through the town if they don't have tunnels for them.
