35m road cleared to tackle bottleneck

General thrust:

"WORK to complete the "missing link" in the Lothians road network is
set to start within weeks after the Scottish Executive pledged the
24 million needed to build a dual carriageway between the Forth
Road Bridge and the M9".

"The cash pledge means a new dual carriageway is expected to be open
to relieve the bottlenecks by 2008".

"Mr Stephen said: "The A8000 is a vital link to the national
transport network".

"We awarded a 6m contract yesterday to Forkers to advance the
consolidation of mine workings under the A8000, so this announcement
is very timely."
