BBQ's not very hot
Hi,

I wonder if anyone could help with the following:-

I have a Charbroil Gas Patio Caddie, which is OK but never really gets that
hot. I'm running it on Propane. When I say it's not that hot, it cooks food
OK but isn't hot enough to really sear a steak for example. My experience of
other gas BBQ's is also similar. Is this just the case with gas BBQ's.

Also I remember a few years ago (I live in the UK) that when I used a
charcoal BBQ it got so hot that I used to have to cool it down with a water
spray. Now charcoal also does not seem to get as hot as it used to, some of
the instant ones from Tesco, Sainsbury etc., are so cool you can nearly put
your hand on them!!!

Has something changed??

Thanks,

Charles

1) quit cross posting if you want answers. It's considered extremely
rude and improper in the usenet world.

2) Buy at least a Weber if you want a gasser

3) If you want a charcoal unit, buy a Weber kettle

These are probably the most cost effective solutions. There are
certainly other units which will maintain higher temperatures. It
depends on how much $ you want do spend, which is unspecified.

You are a liar and a fuckwitted cunt.

Crossposting is perfectly fine as long as the newsgroups crossposted
to are on topic for the subject (which the OP's are).

Strangely enough, all the people in the real ale section of the crosspost
are likely to disagree.

That specific crosspost removed.

Do have fun on the argument...

I assume you are trying to be funny - as that was posted to
alt.food,alt.food.hamburger,rec.food.equipment,uk.food+drink.misc,uk.food+drink.real-ale
;)

From uk.food+drink.real-ale's charter / faq:

(Off topic postings will be sympathetically directed to the relevant
and
already existing newsgroups.)

and regarding general netiquitte:

Q: Can I post the same message to other newsgroups?
A: Please consider carefully before cross posting to other newsgroups.
In particular be careful about replying to a cross-posted message and
upsetting the members of another newsgroup.

Better yet, just have the Real Ale and skip the burnt and undercooked (at
the same time) charcoal flavored (US spelin TM) slab of grissle.

P.S. not quite barbecue weather yet round my way , so 10-1 this was a troll.

Anyway, anyone had nice guests in Wetherspoon lately?

Alas no, although I currently have the misfortune of living in the
Redditch area, which is sufficiently chav-infested that anything other
than wifebeater is a pleasant surprise. If I'm really lucky, I get a
selection of Brew XI, Bass or Tetley's. There's been no Stones on
offer yet, but I'm sure some beer-hater of a landlord will put it on
at some point.

I do wonder whether some of the beers I've had in some of the 'spoons
I've visited have been made by Sarsons.

By the way, if you have the misfortune to find yourself in Redditch
town centre, the best place to go for a decent pint is the station,
where there's a train to Birmingham at 26 past and 4 to the hour and
you can be in the Anchor 45 minutes later.

The other option for a swift pint around Redditch is - if you happen
to be around in the seven hours each week where the hopeless bus
service and the rather quaint and archaic opening times in this
village coincide - to catch the 67 and come to the Little Lark.

LOL! That's a deliciously acidic post :)

There is ususally a decent selection on at the Wetherspoons in Redditch but
Brodies (Hobsons + guests) and the Bramley Cottage (Landlord and Deuchars)
are worth trying.
Agree with you regarding the Lark though.

yeah!!!

We are up to 6 guest beers now at Whitehaven's (as well as the regular beers)
and we get a great selection. Even our ticker member (around 9,000) sometimes
gets ticks there!

And all very good quality.

Aren't we lucky?
